Comedian Vu Quang hospitalized for emergency care

Artist Vu Quang’s family said he was taken to An Binh Hospital for emergency treatment on March 31. In addition to the stroke, he also suffered from kidney failure, urinary tract infection, etc. For many years, he has not lived in Cho Hamlet, Thoi Lai Commune, Binh Dai District, Ben Tre. Due to his lonely circumstances, he was given shelter at Ngoc Quang Monastery (District 8, Ho Chi Minh City). After the stroke, he was paralyzed in both legs.

The program "Mai Vang Nhan Ai" of Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper with the companionship of Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank went to Ben Tre to visit artist Vu Quang.

Five years ago, the program "Mai Vang Nhan Ai" (now "Mai Vang Tri An") visited him in Ben Tre and gave him gifts, at the same time as visiting People's Artist Thao Van, also in Ben Tre.

Artist Vu Quang once confided that after many years of working as a comedian, happy with each role when bringing laughter to the audience, he was welcomed with applause on stage, but did not expect that in old age, he would live with illness and poverty.

He thanked the "Mai Vang Nhan Ai" program organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper with the support of Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank. The Stage Reporters Club of the Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Association also visited and gave him gifts to help him with his treatment.

Vu Quang was a comedian who was once famous on the stage of the ancient opera Huynh Long, loved by the audience through the plays: "Spring returns on the top of Ma Phi", "Xu an Phi Giao", "Anh hung ban than", "Liu Bei cau hon giang ta"... When the Golden Stage of People's Artist Minh Vuong - People's Artist Le Thuy organized in 2007, he was invited to participate in the play "Mau sua san chua", performed with Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh and was loved by the audience.

Artist Vu Quang is paralyzed and has to use a wheelchair, but his spirit is very optimistic.

Coming from a family with a tradition of performing in the Cai Luong theater, all of his siblings are attached to the singing profession. Comedian Vu Quang was taught the profession by good teachers, so he knew how to sing traditional opera and Cai Luong from a young age. He has more than 10 years of experience writing scripts, has been the deputy head of the art troupe and worked on staging.
