The works are made of a variety of materials including silk, lacquer, ceramics, do paper, installations, and animations, bringing more opportunities for audiences who love this genre of painting, as well as those interested in the unique and surprisingly interesting creations of the young generation of Vietnamese creators.
This exhibition is a continuation of the project “From tradition to tradition” which was started and launched in Hanoi in 2020.
According to the project curator - lecturer Nguyen The Son (School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts), during the boom of "Japonism" in Europe in the 19th century, the unique way of expressing space and using colors in Ukiyo-e paintings made a strong impression on many famous Western artists such as Monet, Cézanne and Renoir - who later created many works of art greatly influenced by Ukiyo-e.
More than 100 years later, this time young Vietnamese artists have taken on a new challenge to create artworks inspired by Ukiyo-e, but still preserving Vietnamese traditions.
Through many times of research and interaction with Hang Trong paintings, the project "From tradition to tradition" has developed and launched many exhibitions in the past 3 years.
Traditional Vietnamese painting materials such as silk, lacquer, and do paper have been in dialogue with Hang Trong paintings to create new traditions with the shape and spirit of the young generation in the new era.

With the collaboration of artist Le Dinh Nghien, this project has continued when transitioning to a line of sophisticated woodcut paintings, synthesizing the skills and minds of the creative painters along with the woodcarvers and printers. The project wants to go further by pushing the inspiration of cross-cultural and cross-national dialogues.
Previously, the project "Dialogue with Ukiyo-e paintings" was successfully launched at the Temple of Literature in January 2024 and continued to be introduced to the public within the framework of the 20th Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange Week in Hoi An, August 2024.
