Resources from consensus
In 2025, the Tan An commune's fund for the poor raised over 3.3 billion VND. From this fund, the locality provided Tet (Lunar New Year) support to 5,327 poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households; and assisted over 5,000 cases of sudden hardship. In addition, many other social welfare activities were effectively implemented, contributing to alleviating the difficulties faced by vulnerable groups in their lives.
Behind those figures lies the consensus of the entire community. Many businesses, philanthropists, and local people actively contribute money, goods, or labor to care for the poor. Many people from Tan An who are living and working elsewhere still regularly show their support for their homeland through practical acts of kindness. The spirit of mutual support continues to be promoted, becoming a pillar of strength for those in difficult circumstances, contributing to strengthening the great national unity.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thien Hao, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan An commune, the achievements of the fund for the poor stem from the people's trust in social welfare activities as well as the transparency in the management and use of the fund. "We always ensure that the management and use of the fund for the poor must be for the right purpose, for the right beneficiaries, and with transparency. When people trust us, mobilizing resources becomes easier, and activities to care for the poor become more effective," Mr. Hao shared.
Homes built from compassion
For many years, the family of Mr. Ha Van Nam, residing in Hamlet 10, Tan Hoa B village, lived in a dilapidated house, constantly worried about leaks during the rainy season. Their difficult economic circumstances made the dream of having a sturdy roof over their heads seem unattainable. However, with the 50 million VND support from the Solidarity Housing Construction Program, joy finally came to the family after years of waiting.
Standing in front of his new house, Mr. Nam emotionally shared: “Having this house is a great joy for my family. From now on, my family no longer has to worry about leaks every time it rains. I am very grateful to the Party, the State, the local government, and the benefactors who have cared for and helped my family, giving us more motivation to improve our lives.”
From the fund for the poor and contributions from organizations and individuals, Tan An commune will build 17 solidarity houses for poor and disadvantaged households in 2025. In 2026, the locality will continue to review 73 cases needing housing support to gradually help people stabilize their lives. These new houses not only provide people with safe housing but also create conditions for them to work, produce, and rise out of poverty with peace of mind.
Mr. La Hong Phong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tan An commune, said that caring for the poor and vulnerable groups is always a regular task of the locality. The commune has determined that economic development must go hand in hand with ensuring social security and improving the material and spiritual lives of the people. Therefore, in addition to mobilizing resources to care for the poor, the locality also focuses on creating conditions for people to develop production, gradually improve their income and stabilize their lives.
According to Mr. La Hong Phong, the achievements in social welfare work over the past period are proof of the strength of national unity. When the government, the Fatherland Front, businesses, philanthropists, and the people work together, those in difficult circumstances will receive timely support. This is also how the locality achieves the goal of ensuring that no one is left behind in the development process.
From the solidarity houses built with love and community responsibility, the fund for the poor has continued to affirm its profound humanitarian significance. The achievements not only contribute to improving people's lives but also foster a spirit of solidarity and sharing, creating motivation for Tan An to continue to better care for the poor and vulnerable groups in the future.
