After the Breakthrough round in Rap Viet season 4, the cruel scenario repeated itself for Suboi when her team ended up empty-handed. It was only thanks to the golden hat from Thai VG that Suboi had a contestant in the final.
Following Saabirose's disappointing defeat against Queen B, the team Suboi They found themselves in a precarious situation with only Shayda, V High, and Dacia remaining. As expected, despite the efforts of the remaining contestants, Suboi's team was completely outmatched in the fierce competition, leading to the defeat of each contestant one by one. By the final round, featuring Robber and Manbo, Suboi's spirit as a coach was almost completely depleted.
Weak fighting power
After Shayda finished her performance in the Breakthrough round, Suboi poured out her heart, praising and encouraging the contestant who had received the first choice privilege. One of the things Suboi shared was that Shayda and the other contestants in her team didn't need to force themselves to compete with anyone in this competition. Instead, they should all focus on becoming true artists.
Suboi's statement clearly reflects what has happened to her team since the beginning of Rap Viet Season 4. From the Conquest round, when the coaches were all eager, even willing to bring each other down to win contestants, Suboi remained calm, polite, and ready to accept everything that came her way.
Suboi's team's Battle Round was uneventful, not leaving much of a lasting impression compared to the other three teams. Suboi's contestants stepped onto the knockout stage with a relaxed mindset, focusing on being themselves. Meanwhile, the other teams showed the spirit of warriors. Contestants like Robber, Ngắn, and Gill were "confined" to the recording studio for hours by their coach, all with the goal of creating the best possible product.
Suboi's decisions are heavily influenced by emotions and the unique perspective of a coach wanting to give opportunities to "raw talent." She used her first choice – her most important privilege – on Shayda after only their first encounter. Suboi chose many weaker contestants for her team, hoping to give opportunities to those with potential. Her decision to save Coldzy in the Battle Round was also a risky move.
As each round progressed, Suboi's team's professional quality became increasingly apparent. By the Breakthrough round, when compared to other competitors, the contestants' professional skills were the sole determining factor. Willistic, Coldzy, Saabirose, and Shayda were successively defeated.
Suboi's students failed, first and foremost, because their skills weren't good enough compared to their opponents. On the other hand, the professional expertise of Suboi and the producer in devising strategies to compete was also questioned by the audience. While other coaches were racking their brains to increase their chances of winning, Suboi remained calm.
As she said, "There's no need to prove anything to anyone." Many of Suboi's contestants have successfully upgraded themselves from unknown rappers into promising artists in the rap market. No matter which of Suboi's students leaves the competition, there's nothing to regret, as it truly reflects their talent.
The harsh reality targeted Suboi, as for the second consecutive time as a coach, none of her contestants won in the Breakthrough round. Suboi was criticized by the audience for her fighting spirit, given that this was a survival competition, not a music race.
Thai VG must save Sababirose
In the Rap Viet Season 4 final, it's unacceptable for a coach not to perform; their role is to support and help contestants compete for the championship. Four years ago, JustaTee's golden hat was given to Tlinh, allowing the duo Suboi and Tlinh to take the stage in the final. This year, Thai VG gave the hat to Saabirose after JustaTee placed his trust in Manbo.
If we were to narrow down the contestants to Suboi's team, Saabirose would deserve a lifeline. Willistic, Saabirose, and Shayda were Suboi's students who delivered decent performances in round 3. Saabirose made the best impression of the three, with a performance that closely followed the theme, showed a breakthrough, and had captivating music. It's a pity for Saabirose that her opponent, Queen B, also performed well.
When Saabirose faced Queen B in a freestyle battle, the difference in experience came to the fore.
Saabirose won hearts from the Conquest, Battle, and Breakthrough rounds. She is the most versatile female rapper in Rap Viet season 4, and also Suboi's most anticipated contestant. There are so many reasons why Thai VG threw the hat to save Saabirose.
Considering the overall performances of all the rappers eliminated after the Breakthrough round, Saabirose's performance, according to most viewers, was far less impressive than many others. Ngắn, Lower, and Nhật Hoàng were three rappers who unfortunately bowed out, all convincing listeners with their storytelling raps. However, a competition always has many variables, and sometimes fairness isn't everything; therefore, there will be cases of contestants leaving with regret.
Saabirose will compete for the championship with 9 other contestants, that's the theory. In reality, however, Suboi's protégé's chances of winning are slim, as her competitive foundation from the Breakthrough round wasn't anything special. Heading towards the final, intense competition is expected to focus on Robber, Gill, 7dnight, and Dangrangto.
