"Horses return to the city" with aspirations for breakthrough and innovation.

(PLVN) The thematic exhibition "Horses Return to the City" portrays the image of horses that are both familiar to tradition and embody the spirit of the times, reflecting the aspiration for breakthroughs in thinking, action, and creativity of contemporary society.

On January 8, 2026, at the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giám National Special Monument (Hanoi), the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giám Cultural and Scientific Activities Center organized a thematic exhibition titled "Horses Returning to the City".

The exhibition features works by Central Highlands cultural researcher Dang Minh Tam; artist Le Huy and the Lamphong Studio group, along with images and artifacts related to horses from several other cultural spaces. The event is a cultural activity to kick off the new year, welcoming the Year of the Horse 2026.

In his opening remarks, Director of the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giám Cultural and Scientific Center, Le Xuan Kieu, emphasized that in Vietnamese consciousness and culture, the horse is a symbol of strength, loyalty, perseverance, and an unceasing spirit of progress. Associated with long journeys throughout history and life, the image of the horse is often seen as a symbol of unwavering will, aspiration for greater heights, and a spirit of continuous learning. Especially in the Year of the Horse – a year of action and vigorous movement – ​​the image of the horse becomes even more meaningful, evoking inner strength, breakthroughs, and a spirit of overcoming challenges in the new year.

According to Mr. Kieu, this is the first time such an exhibition has been held at the Temple of Literature - National University. The works of Central Highlands cultural researcher Dang Minh Tam, painter Le Huy, and the Lamphong Studio group, along with images and artifacts about horses, made a deep impression on domestic and international visitors. The "Horses Returning to the City" exhibition also serves as a wish for visitors from all over to have a new year with a breakthrough and dynamism as they enter a new era.”

"Organizing the exhibition at the Temple of Literature - National University, a symbol of Vietnamese scholarship and the tradition of studiousness, carries profound significance. In this sacred space of learning, the image of the horse not only represents strength and perseverance, but also evokes the spirit of self-reliance, career building, and the will to strive for success through learning, training, and contributing to society," shared Mr. Le Xuan Kieu.

Visitors, especially international guests, were deeply impressed by the way the artworks were displayed and arranged, depicting various horse imagery. The exhibited works and materials showcased diverse approaches to the horse image: from in-depth cultural research and contemporary painting language to creative art installations. Through this, the exhibition portrayed the horse as both familiar to tradition and imbued with the spirit of the times, reflecting the aspiration for breakthroughs in thinking, action, and creativity in contemporary society.
