"Happy Canteen": Providing thousands of free meals for over 5 years.

(HTV) - For over five years, thousands of free meals have been distributed at the "Happy Canteen" of Le Van Thinh Hospital, Binh Trung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. Located amidst a lush green space, this small corner provides support for patients, their families, and even healthcare workers facing difficulties.

Having worked in the kitchen of the "Happy Canteen" for two years, Pham Quang Thuan now plays a key role in food preparation. For him, each well-prepared meal delivered is the most practical way to share with those in difficult circumstances at the hospital.

The cafeteria serves 300-400 meals a day for patients.

Mr. Pham Quang Thuan shared: "The cafeteria serves 300-400 meals a day for our patients. We always ensure quality from the selection of ingredients to the preparation process; everything is done meticulously."

To ensure that hot meals reach patients on time, the kitchen has to "light the fire" from 8:30 AM and finish at 1:00 PM. Speaking about the significance of this work, Ms. Tram Thi Hong Dang, a volunteer at the Happy Canteen, expressed: "Sharing meals with people, even though each meal only costs 20-30 thousand dong, is very valuable. We hope this model will spread further to help more people in need."

Not only is attention paid to the quality of each meal, but the dining environment is also given special consideration.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Cuong, Master of Science and Deputy Head of the Social Work Department at Le Van Thinh Hospital, said: "The leadership also strives to create a beautiful, airy, and nature-friendly corner. The 'Happy Dining Hall' is currently a highlight and a source of joy in the hospital's space, helping people feel comfortable when coming for healthcare."
