The captain presented certificates of full attendance at the ship's training sessions to the candidates.
This remarkable achievement stems from Nam Son winning a top prize in the international competition "Nuclear Energy for Peace," organized by the Russian Federation Nuclear Energy Corporation. This year, the competition entered its sixth season, attracting nearly 67,000 students, including almost 4,000 from 20 countries.
After rigorous selection rounds (including online written tests and presentations), the organizing committee selected 66 outstanding contestants, including 46 Russian students and 20 international students, representing 20 countries, to participate in the Arctic expedition aboard the nuclear icebreaker "50 Years of Victory".

Nam Son stood precisely at the +90° mark with the national flag in his hand.
Preparing for the trip, Nam Son's first choice of luggage was the red flag with a yellow star of his homeland. He spent his entire summer vacation collecting images and documents about Vietnam and its people, ready to introduce them to his international friends. With confidence and pride, every step he took on the icy landscape was imbued with the spirit of Vietnam.
The journey to conquer the North Pole lasted 5 days. The icebreaker sailed through the Barents Sea and the Kara Sea, navigating thin ice sheets and open waters, before reaching the Earth's northernmost point.
Unlike Antarctica, the Arctic has no landmass, only thick ice sheets floating on the sea surface, with an average depth of about 4,000 meters. It is also the only place on the planet where all meridians converge, with all directions pointing south. In August, when Nam Son and his friends arrived, the Arctic still saw the last rays of sunlight before the long, dark season.

Members of the delegation pose for a photo at the North Pole.
In the freezing 0°C weather, the red flag with a yellow star fluttered amidst the vast sea of ice. Nam Son emotionally shared: "I have carried the spirit of the nation, so that the Vietnamese flag can be present in the far north of the world ."
Nguyen Nam Son's journey is not only a memorable personal experience but also a vivid testament to the intelligence, courage, and aspirations of Vietnamese youth. From Hanoi, a city with a thousand years of history, to the far reaches of the Arctic, the red flag with a yellow star continues to fly high, affirming Vietnam's position and image in the international community.
The national flag flying over the Arctic ice sea has become a symbol of the aspirations and dedication of the younger generation, while also contributing to spreading the message of a Vietnam rich in tradition, innovative, and ready to integrate with friends from all over the world.
