The world's first railway station built using 3D printing technology is located in Japan, with the construction process taking just 1 week.
The station with the white curved roof is located in a rural area of Wakayama Prefecture in western Japan.
According to Serendix Corporation, which collaborated with West Japan Railway Company (JR West) on the project, the production of the station's foundation and exterior took just seven days.
The station sections were then reinforced with steel and filled with concrete, assembled on site.
Serendix Corporation representatives said that if using conventional methods, it would take one or two months to install the roof and walls of the station, but with 3D printing technology, this work only takes about 2 hours, showing that the above technology has an advantage in terms of speed.
According to JR West, the assembly process of the above station began after the last train left the station at around midnight and was completed before the first train arrived at the station at around 5am.
The station can begin operating after completing the interior and installing ticket gates./.
