The water supply is intermittent.
In early June, many households in Hoa Tien commune were left anxious due to intermittent water supply. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (residing in Hamlet 5) said that the weak water pressure has been a frequent problem for several months. Between 2 PM and 8 PM daily, the water flow is very weak or completely cut off, causing significant difficulties for her family.
Responding to residents' concerns, Mr. Nguyen Tan Khoa, Chairman of the Hoa Tien Commune People's Committee, stated that all 22 villages in the commune have now been equipped with a clean water supply pipeline system. The water is supplied by the Water Supply Enterprise Area 2 under the Da Nang Water Supply Joint Stock Company. However, the locality has continuously received complaints from residents about water shortages and weak water flow. Based on this, the Commune People's Committee has coordinated with relevant units to conduct on-site inspections and has requested functional units to implement solutions to ensure clean water for residents.
According to local statistics, many areas are being affected. Notably, in Le Son 2 village, weak water pressure is occurring throughout the entire village. Many areas experience water shortages mainly during peak hours from 2 PM to 6 PM, while some areas lack water all day.
To ensure sufficient clean water for residents, the local authorities have requested the water supply company to investigate and assess the causes, regulate water pressure appropriately, and prioritize investment in upgrading and expanding the pipeline system, as well as considering the installation of booster pump stations in areas experiencing severe water shortages.
Mr. Tran Phuoc Thuong, Deputy General Director of Da Nang Water Supply Joint Stock Company (DAWACO), said that the water shortage in some villages in Hoa Tien commune stems from several causes, including prolonged hot weather which has led to increased water demand from residents.
In addition, the construction of National Highway 14B, a key project of the city, has also affected water supply in the area. In the coming time, the unit will conduct on-site inspections and assessments to find appropriate solutions, and at the same time increase water pressure during peak hours to meet the needs of the people.
In Nam Phuoc commune, the shortage of clean water is also causing difficulties for residents. In particular, the villages of Tra Dong, Ha Nhuan, and Vinh Nam have experienced very weak water supply for several weeks, with periods of almost no water available. Mr. Vo Ngoc Lenh, head of Tra Dong village, said that 437 households in the village have registered for clean water. However, for the past two months, the water supply has been unstable, leaving many households without water. Many families have had to spend money digging wells and installing motors to pump water for temporary use.
According to the leaders of the Thang Binh Water Supply and Drainage Enterprise - Duy Xuyen area, the Duy Xuyen Regional Water Plant currently has a designed capacity of 3,000 m³ /day, supplying water to more than 6,200 customers in the area. The reason for the water shortage is due to saltwater intrusion. The unit will continue to inspect, assess, and implement appropriate solutions to ensure water supply for the people in the coming time.

Use well water for daily activities.
While many localities are experiencing weak or localized water supply issues, the problem of clean water is even more challenging in Hiep Duc commune, where the majority of residents still lack access to piped water. Ms. Pham Thi Ban (Binh Hoa village) said that her family has been using water from a dug well for many years. Every day, she has to scoop water into a storage tank for daily use.
According to Mr. Luu Hoang An, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hiep Duc commune, currently only three villages—An Dong, An Nam, and An Tay—have access to piped water. The remaining 12 villages in the area still mainly use water from dug wells, drilled wells, or natural water sources.
According to a report from the People's Committee of Hiep Duc commune, in implementing the direction of the City People's Committee on the development of the Rural Clean Water Development Plan for the period 2026-2030, the locality has conducted a review of the current situation of clean water usage in the area.
The commune currently has 3,764 households, of which 826 households use water from the centralized rural clean water supply system, accounting for 21.94%. In addition, 1,721 households use water from household-scale water supply systems such as drilled wells, dug wells, and gravity-fed water systems, representing 45.72% of the total number of households. Overall, 2,547 households in the commune use clean water that meets standards, equivalent to 67.66%.
Local authorities hope that relevant agencies will soon conduct surveys and allocate investment resources so that people in mountainous areas can access safe and clean water.
According to the head of the city's Department of Agriculture and Environment, the department is coordinating with local authorities to inspect, review, and assess the current state of rural domestic water supply capacity in the city to develop a suitable water supply plan.
The unit is also developing a Rural Water Supply Development Plan for the period 2026-2030, expected to be submitted to the competent authority for promulgation in October 2026. The goal is to increase the percentage of households using clean water that meets standards to 80% by 2030.
