This is the first picture book series by author Cát Tường in her 15-year writing journey. The series is engaging, containing profound life lessons, and is not only a valuable spiritual gift for young readers, but also a source of relaxation and meaning for parents reading with their children, and for adult readers alike.

Everyone has their own unique value.

The common thread among the three books is that author Cát Tường skillfully personifies familiar household objects such as refrigerators, electric fans, and the second hand to create simple stories that resonate with young readers.

In "The Rebellious Second Hand," the author tells the story of Kim Giây's competitive and ruthless nature: "Why do I work the hardest but receive the least attention? People only look at the clock to see the minutes and hours; nobody pays attention to me! I can't live such an unfair life forever!", along with his journey of breaking free from the cycle and embarking on an adventure to find his own value. In the other two books, the author tells the story of the arrogant friend, the Freezer, who belittles the old and weak Refrigerator, or the Air Conditioner, who disdains the rusty, useless Electric Fan...

Only with keen observation and novel ideas can author Cat Tuong convey the stories of things, or rather, the natural emotional nuances and personality traits of human beings. "Reading this picture book series, whether children, parents, or adults, everyone will see glimpses of themselves – the little girls and boys who once felt hurt by comparisons or boastfully compared themselves to others..." – author Cat Tuong shared.

This photo book series, with its vivid and endearing stories and genuine emotions, conveys a simple message to readers: Every object and every person has its own unique value. Be proud and confident in that. Nurture those values first and foremost through your own belief and effort.

Nurturing values through belief and effort.

Through this story, author Cát Tường conveys meaningful messages: Everyone can work using their abilities, regardless of age; everyone can become a "hero" in the eyes of others without having to conform to any rigid standards; it is essential to understand one's own value, and whether others pay attention to you or not is not really important.

Author Cát Tường shared: “I chose 'Unique Values' as the overarching theme when I started writing this book because it holds significant meaning for me personally. Since childhood, I've often been compared to my friends in every aspect: physique, skin color, agility, grades, speech... A shy girl being compared to other talkative girls—clearly, something felt wrong. It seems everyone has a common standard: all children, all adults, all parents... must be this way to be considered good; anything different is considered deviant, wrong. I believe that unique values cannot be placed on a scale for comparison…”
