According to Apple, the most recent iPhones that received the iOS 17 update but cannot upgrade to iOS 18 are the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, along with the iPhone X.

Meanwhile, iPhone models compatible with iOS 18 include the iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, along with the iPhone XS and XS Max; the iPhone XR; and the iPhone SE (2nd generation or higher).

To make sure your iPhone is on the list of devices eligible for the iOS 18 update, you can check the list below:

iPhone XR; iPhone XS and XS Max; iPhone 11; iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max; iPhone 12 and 12 mini; iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max; iPhone 13 and 13 mini; iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max; iPhone 14 and 14 Plus; iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max; iPhone 15 and 15 Plus; iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max; iPhone SE (2nd generation); iPhone SE (3rd generation).

As you can see, all iPhones running iOS 17 can be updated to iOS 18. However, according to Apple, only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are compatible with the new AI or Apple Intelligence features. This is because these features require the A17 Pro or M1 chip or higher.
