Those who "keep the flame alive" for the village.

Thanks to national target programs, the appearance of villages in Quang Phu commune has improved significantly. This is due not only to the support from the State and the active involvement of the local Party committee and government, but also to the unity and enthusiastic participation of the people.

One of the hallmarks of socio -economic development, poverty reduction, and new rural construction in this locality is the contribution of ethnic minority communities. In particular, the Party branch secretaries, village heads, and influential figures have "kept the flame alive," inspiring enthusiasm among the villagers to move forward.

Amidst the sun and wind of the Central Highlands, there is a dedicated woman who is quietly "igniting" change in her village day and night. That is Ms. H'Đàn Niê – Head of Sút H'luốt village. Since taking on this responsibility in 2020, she has become a strong bridge between the Party, the government, and the people, leading the village to strong progress.

The village of Sút H'luốt has 339 households with nearly 1,800 inhabitants, of which over 90% are ethnic minorities. This poses a considerable challenge for the Party branch and the village's Front Committee. However, through her attentiveness and sincerity, she has affirmed her role as a leader.

Ms. H'Đàn Niê said that, in addition to family and farming, the work of a village head is quite demanding, but because the villagers and Party members have entrusted her with the additional responsibility of Party branch secretary from 2025, she must try even harder, as her responsibility to the people is even heavier.

Not content with just attending meetings, she chose to go door-to-door to disseminate the Party and State's policies and guidelines, as well as the local government's plans and directions. From maintaining security and order to applying science and technology to production, she was present to explain and encourage participation.

She also regularly understands the thoughts and aspirations of the villagers and resolves arising issues in a fair and reasonable manner, earning their affection and trust. Occasionally, when there are cases of marital discord, neighborhood disunity, or land disputes in the village, she quickly steps in to mediate. As a result, there have been no significant incidents related to security and order in the village.

Looking at the prosperity of Sut H'luot village today, few people know that the villagers were once only familiar with traditional, low-yield farming methods. With an innovative mindset, the village head mobilized the people to switch from simple farming to a multi-cropping model.

Ms. H'Đàn Niê excitedly shared about the changes in her village: "Before, the villagers worked very hard, but now, thanks to training and the application of new techniques, productivity has increased significantly. Besides coffee, the villagers also intercrop durian and pepper."

Thanks to proper guidance, approximately 30% of households in the village now earn billions of dong annually. Spacious houses have sprung up, and cars parked in the yards are no longer uncommon. Most encouragingly, instead of selling their fields as before, the villagers are buying more to expand production and become wealthy within their own village.

Besides economic development, the spirit of solidarity within the village is also constantly strengthened. In the movement to build new rural areas, when roads deteriorate, the villagers work together. To date, more than 90% of households in Sut H'luot village have achieved the title of "Culturally Advanced Family," social evils have been pushed back, and the village remains peaceful.

A forest located next to Provincial Road 8, passing through Buon Map hamlet (Quang Phu commune), impresses passersby with its cool, green space and many ancient trees – the Cu H'lam forest. This forest covers an area of 22 hectares, of which 17 hectares are forested land. It is a mixed evergreen forest, with many trees whose trunks are so large that several people would need to encircle them.

According to the elders here, this forest was formed in connection with a legend about a forbidden love that defied the customs of the Ede people. For the locals, this is a sacred forest, full of mysteries and closely associated with the village for generations.

Mr. Y Muynh Êban – Head of Mắp village – said that this forest has existed since ancient times, and his ancestors heard many interesting stories about it. The forest shelters the village, witnessing the joys and sorrows of the people. The forest is the present, the memory of the people, and a resting place when working in the fields. The village considers the forest a treasure bestowed by Yàng (the supreme deity).

The villagers look at the forest to know when to clear land for farming and planting. Children in the village are taught about the value of the forest. The forest is not cut down, but when a tree burns or falls, the village feels like it has lost a valuable asset. When the rainy season comes, everyone gets together to plant more mahogany and acacia trees around the forest to keep it green.

Buon Map currently has 579 households and 2,871 people, of which ethnic minorities account for about 80%. Generation after generation, the villagers here have reminded each other to protect the forest. The forest is next to the village, but the people never enter it to cut trees for timber; they only gather vegetables for food or cut some rattan vines for making tools. Every villager acts as a watchful eye for the forest, questioning strangers who approach, and reporting any suspicious activity to the authorities. Thanks to this, the forest is virtually untouched by deforestation or encroachment.

Mr. Ama Xi has lived for over 70 farming seasons near the Cu H'lam forest. He is very knowledgeable about the legends of this forest. For many years, he and the villagers have protected this precious forest. Mr. Ama Xi has also patrolled with the forest rangers many times. He said that the forest here is lush and green all year round, mainly consisting of very large Lagerstroemia and Dipterocarpus trees. There is a clear, never-drying lake in the forest, so it remains cool and rarely suffers from drought during the dry season.
