Seeing my son grow up in the green uniform of a soldier.
From early morning, hundreds of relatives of the new recruits were present at the unit to attend the oath-taking ceremony. On the platform, many relatives' eyes were fixed on the soldiers standing solemnly before the Victory Banner. Amidst the joy of reunion was a feeling of emotion and pride as they witnessed firsthand the changes in their sons and daughters.

Three months ago, when bidding farewell to her son as he left for military service, Ms. Luong Thi Thu Huong from Tran Phu Street ( Hanoi ) couldn't help but feel anxious. Now, seeing him again, Ms. Huong is deeply moved to see her son, soldier Pham Xuan Hoai Anh of Platoon 8, Company 11, in the ranks, displaying a quick and agile demeanor and a resolute face. "I am very proud to witness the moment my son took the oath before the Victory Banner," Ms. Huong shared. Not far from Ms. Huong, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuu, mother of soldier Nguyen Minh Quan, residing in Xuan Dong residential area, Xuan Hoa ward, Phu Tho province, continuously captured memorable images of her son. Ms. Tuu said that in the early days of her son's enlistment, the family couldn't help but worry about him living far from home. However, after three months, the family clearly felt the change in Minh Quan. "Now he thinks more maturely, and cares more about his family. Seeing him healthy and strong, I feel very relieved," Ms. Tuu expressed.
According to Colonel Pham Ngoc Vu, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Special Forces, after more than three months of studying and training in the military environment, the new recruits, who were young men just leaving their families, have shown significant growth in awareness, courage, physical fitness, and military skills. More importantly, the soldiers have a clearer understanding of their duty to protect the Fatherland, the responsibilities of a revolutionary soldier, and the glorious traditions of the heroic Special Forces...
Trust returned
If the oath-taking ceremony for new recruits marks a milestone in a young soldier's maturity, then the reunion with family after the ceremony is the most anticipated moment. The unit grounds become lively with handshakes, smiles, and tight hugs after weeks of separation. Soldiers excitedly recount stories about the training grounds, the practice fields, their comrades, and military life to their families.
A highlight of this year's new recruit swearing-in ceremony was the 113th Special Forces Brigade's arrangement of a commemorative photo area for new recruits and their families. In front of banners bearing the distinctive traditions of the Special Forces, many families took the opportunity to capture memorable moments as their children officially became soldiers in the Vietnam People's Army. This simple activity demonstrated the unit's concern for the soldiers' well-being and helped strengthen family bonds with the unit. Among those visiting the unit was Dam Thi Thu Huyen, from Nghe An province. Having traveled a long distance to meet her brother, new recruit Nguyen Ba Ngoc, Huyen couldn't hide her joy, sharing: "I see my brother has changed a lot. He's more confident and mature than before. The whole family is very proud."
Not only did many parents feel impressed by their children's growth, but they were also struck by the unit's disciplined and well-organized environment. From living quarters and daily activities to training areas, everything was scientifically and neatly organized. For Ms. Nguyen Hoang Yen, mother of new recruit Hoang Anh Minh from Hanoi, this visit to the unit brought her special reassurance. “I feel very reassured seeing my son mature and become more confident. The unit's officers are approachable and caring towards the soldiers. This makes the family very confident in entrusting their children to the military environment,” Ms. Yen said. These sincere words from the relatives of new recruits are a recognition of the efforts of the officers in managing, educating, and training new recruits. They also demonstrate the effectiveness of the military environment in fostering character, organizational discipline, and a sense of responsibility in young people. Colonel Nguyen Quang Hoa, Commander of the 113th Special Forces Brigade, emphasized: "The results of training new recruits are an important foundation for the unit to continue to perform its training and combat readiness tasks well in the future."
