“Summer Vacation for Growth,” “Survival Summer Camp,” “Creative and Scientific Exploration Summer Camp,” “Confidence and Independence Summer Camp”… are the names of the courses offered this summer by Tam Viet Life Skills Center in Thanh Hoa (Hac Thanh Ward). Lasting from one week to one month, each course is designed around practical, short themes to “awaken” children’s inner potential, equip them with knowledge, and help them develop essential skills in handling situations and ensuring their own safety in life.

Interestingly, many of the course activities will take place in a close-to-nature, friendly environment, with specific scenarios requiring participants to have excellent coordination, ingenuity, and a high level of discipline to overcome obstacles and effectively handle the given situations.

According to Nguyen Trong Minh, Director of Tam Viet Thanh Hoa Life Skills Center: “The center’s strength lies in providing in-depth training in presentation skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills for our students… In addition, we also have workshops on various topics to help students become confident, dynamic, and successful in their studies and lives. Along with standardized curricula licensed by competent authorities, we also focus on applying AI in lesson design and thoroughly utilizing information technology in teaching and management… to bring the best results in training our students.”

To meet the growing needs of parents and students, many centers have diversified their training programs by integrating life skills through technology classes such as Robotics, creative and exploratory science... This helps to ignite a passion for science through vivid and easy-to-understand experiments, allowing children to directly interact with equipment, learn while playing, develop logical thinking, collaboration and problem-solving skills, and build confidence in networking...

According to Ms. Le Thi Thanh Huyen, Deputy Director of KUMA International Training Company Limited in Dong Son ward: “Our goal is to organize life skills education activities for preschool children. The life skills education content is built in a concentric circle, suitable for each age group, and continues to be practiced at progressively increasing levels. The program focuses on developing survival skills, self-awareness; communication and interpersonal skills with family, community, friends, and the environment; independence; and safety rules… The programs are designed to create an environment for experiencing and practicing life skills, helping children gain experience, confidence, independence, and initiative. They learn what to do and what not to do, how to handle situations appropriately in life, build good relationships with family, friends, and others, stimulate creative thinking, and lay the foundation for children to become responsible individuals with fulfilling lives.” "peace in the future."

Life skills education not only helps children develop a balanced and proper intellectual and emotional well-being, but also contributes to reducing increasingly common negative behaviors among students such as school violence, depression, and internet addiction. The benefits are undeniable; however, for life skills education to be truly effective, parents need to clearly identify what skills their children lack and in what areas they need support. They also need to consider whether the content of the class is appropriate for their child's age.

In addition, parents also need to carefully research the legal status of the organizing unit, the teaching staff, the training program, and whether the learning environment is safe and child-friendly.

Life skills are an indispensable tool that helps children play safely while growing and developing every day. The good skills they acquire will stay with them throughout their lives; however, developing these skills requires more than just courses. Each individual needs continuous practice, refinement, reflection, and learning from real-life experiences to grow and thrive in a constantly changing world.
