Minh Xuan completes Project 06 ahead of schedule.
This season, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung's family in Trang Thanh village is very excited about a bumper rice harvest. "This season, my family planted over 7 sao (approximately 0.7 hectares), mainly with the rice varieties Nhi Uu 838, Thuy Huong 308, Thien Uu 8, and the purebred Bac Thom No. 7. Thanks to planting according to the correct timeframe, regularly inspecting the fields to detect pests and diseases, and applying fertilizer according to the correct procedures and cycles, the rice yield reached nearly 58 quintals/hectare, much higher than previous seasons."
Meanwhile, the family of Ms. Hoang Thi Bay in Tong Rang village planted over 8 sao (approximately 0.8 hectares) of rice this spring, and the harvest is now basically complete, with high yields. "This year's rice crop is very good. My family planted the Nhi Uu 838, Thuy Huong 308, and Viet Lai 20 varieties. These are all varieties that produce long panicles, many grains, and are resistant to black stripe dwarf disease. The percentage of whole grains is higher, and the cooked rice is soft, sticky, and has a rich flavor," Ms. Bay said.
Entering the spring planting season of 2025, under the direct guidance of the District People's Committee, the Minh Xuan Commune People's Committee directed farmers to proactively develop plans and organize production with specific measures, especially adhering strictly to the crop varieties and seasonal planting schedule of the agricultural sector; and simultaneously implementing solutions to overcome production challenges when the weather is unpredictable. Through this, Minh Xuan has done a good job of disseminating information and directing 100% of the people in the villages to sow and plant according to the seasonal schedule; if the weather is cold and the temperature drops low, 100% of the seedlings must be covered with nylon, focusing on pest and disease control, and applying scientific and technical advancements to production...
Comrade Nguyen Thi Mai Huong - Secretary of the Party Committee of Minh Xuan commune, said: "In the spring crop of 2025, the commune planted 210 hectares. 60% of the area was planted with hybrid rice varieties such as Nhi Uu 838, Viet Lai 20, Thuy Huong 308, Thai Xuyen 111, and 40% with purebred rice varieties such as Bac Thom No. 7, TBR 225, Bac Huong No. 9, ST 25, and various glutinous rice varieties. Although there were a few cold spells at the beginning of the season, the people basically regularly inspected their fields, monitored the pest and disease situation; proactively managed seeds and fertilizers, and actively prevented and controlled pests and diseases, so the rice plants grew well, and at the end of the season, the rice yield reached nearly 58 quintals/hectare.”
As a locality with a large rice-growing area in the district, farmers in Minh Xuan have experience in sowing, planting, and caring for rice. Accordingly, in addition to favorable weather and geographical conditions, it is necessary to proactively take good care of seedlings, especially covering them with plastic sheeting to protect them from the cold; expand direct sowing, apply balanced and early fertilizers; increase the use of NPK compound fertilizers to replace single fertilizers, supplement with micronutrient fertilizers for foliar application; regulate water properly; and regularly monitor the fields… all of which create healthy rice fields, increase resistance, and reduce the occurrence and damage caused by pests and diseases.
Furthermore, to improve rice productivity and quality, in the 2025 spring rice crop, Minh Xuan commune will continue to coordinate with the Luc Yen District Agricultural Development Support Service Center to guide people on pest and disease control techniques, organize many field conferences with new rice varieties (DT68, VNR88) that are resistant to pests and diseases and adaptable to ecological conditions, thereby supplementing the crop structure and introducing new, high-quality rice varieties for cultivation to achieve high yield, quality, and economic value.
Following the motto "Better to harvest early than to wait until the crop is ripe," taking advantage of favorable weather conditions, Minh Xuan commune is directing farmers to mobilize all resources to urgently harvest rice, free up land, and prepare for the summer crop. Thanks to this, the entire commune has harvested over 50% of its area, with an estimated yield of nearly 58 quintals/hectare. To ensure early summer crop production on over 100 hectares, immediately after the spring harvest, Minh Xuan continues to direct its people to proactively prepare the land, sow seedlings, and provide sufficient fertilizer and irrigation water... in order to continue striving for success in this year's summer crop.
