Yen Bai makes breakthroughs in building new rural areas.
>> The mark of the new rural development in Yen Bai
Yen Bai unleashes its internal strengths to build sustainable new rural areas.
In this continuous development, the remarkable achievements in building new rural areas and breakthroughs in attracting investment are vivid evidence of a leadership team that is courageous, innovative, and creative, always placing the happiness of the people as the guiding principle in all their actions.
For the past 80 years, the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee has consistently pursued the goal of developing and improving the lives of its people. Particularly during the turbulent 2020-2025 term, Yen Bai has demonstrated remarkable resilience. The average annual GRDP growth rate for the 2021-2025 period reached 7.54%, exceeding the Resolution's target and ranking 5th out of 14 provinces in the Northern Midlands and Mountains. The economy has grown rapidly, with estimated GRDP per capita reaching 61.4 million VND in 2025, a 1.5-fold increase compared to 2020.
The remarkable achievements that Yen Bai has attained today are the result of the determination to successfully implement the three strategic breakthroughs outlined in the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress.
The first breakthrough came from innovative thinking in institutional reform and improving the investment environment. With the motto of shifting from a "managing" government to a "serving" government, Yen Bai has created a strong wave of investment.
Nearly 250 projects have been attracted with a total registered capital of nearly 31,500 billion VND. A series of large economic groups such as BIM Group, Flamingo , Erex Japan, Viglacera, BB CIM Holding... have chosen Yen Bai as a strategic "destination".
Foreign direct investment (FDI) also saw spectacular growth with 41 projects and a total investment of over 10,400 billion VND, a 1.7-fold increase compared to the previous period. Simultaneously, breakthroughs in socio-economic infrastructure, especially transportation infrastructure, have truly transformed the province's appearance.
With total social investment estimated at over 100,227 billion VND, 1.6 times higher than the previous period, thousands of projects have been completed. In particular, more than 2,600 km of rural roads have been newly constructed, exceeding the Resolution's target by 30%, becoming vital arteries that unlock potential and connect different regions. Building on this breakthrough, the rural landscape has undergone a dramatic transformation. The province has added 51 communes meeting the New Rural Area standards, bringing the total to 122 communes, accounting for 83.5% of the province's total communes.
Notably, 44 communes have achieved advanced new rural area standards and 16 communes have achieved model new rural area standards, far exceeding the targets set in the Resolution. The province has 5 out of 9 district-level units recognized as having achieved/completed the task of building new rural areas, with Tran Yen district achieving advanced new rural area standards. This result ensures Yen Bai maintains its leading position among the northern mountainous provinces in new rural area construction.
The face of rural areas has undergone profound changes, from technical infrastructure to culture, and from a mindset focused solely on "agricultural production" to one centered on "agricultural economics." Average income in rural areas has reached 37 million VND per person per year, a 1.6-fold increase compared to 2020. To date, the province has 273 OCOP products certified with 3 to 4 stars, including 25 products achieving 4 stars, contributing to job creation and sustainable income growth for the people. These achievements are evident in every home, every village, and every face of the people.
Ms. Giang Thi Dong from Ban Cong commune, Tram Tau district, shared: "Before, my village had dirt roads, which became muddy when it rained, and poverty surrounded us. Now, we have concrete roads leading right to our doorsteps, and people receive support with production capital, making our lives much better. Thanks to the Party and the State, we highland people now have a prosperous life."
Economic growth, achievements in new rural development, and strong investment flows all converge on one philosophy, one goal that the Yen Bai Party Committee has consistently pursued: development in the direction of "Green, harmonious, distinctive, and happy."
By 2025, the happiness index of the people is estimated to reach 68.54%, an increase of 15.24% compared to 2020, exceeding the target set in the Resolution. Yen Bai has developed a complete set of criteria to evaluate and continuously strive to improve people's satisfaction with life. This is the clearest evidence of a government that truly "puts the people at the center, as the subject, driving force, and resource for development," building the values of Yen Bai people: "friendly, compassionate, united, creative, and integrated."
Eighty years of dedication and growth have demonstrated the comprehensive leadership capacity of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee, transforming resolutions into vibrant realities. The impressive economic figures are the clearest measure of the courage, wisdom, and spirit of service of a Party Committee dedicated to the people. The road ahead is long, but with a solid foundation and burning aspirations, the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Yen Bai province have every right to be proud and confident in the future, working together to continue writing new and glorious chapters in the history of their homeland.
