Farmers have essentially completed the harvest of the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring rice crop.

Currently, farmers in Long An province have basically completed the harvest of the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring rice crop, covering an area of ​​over 212,000 hectares and yielding more than 1.4 million tons.

Farmers have harvested nearly 90% of the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring rice crop.

According to data from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, to date, farmers in the province have harvested more than 212,000/242,916 hectares of rice for the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop, reaching nearly 90% of the total planting plan for the entire season. The estimated dry rice yield is 66.24 quintals/hectare (0.34 quintals/hectare higher than the same period in 2024), with a total production of over 1.4 million tons.

Over the past week, the price of (fresh) rice has remained stable, specifically: IR4625 glutinous rice from 7,400 - 7,600 VND/kg, IR50404 paddy rice from 6,000 - 6,400 VND/kg, Dai Thom 8 from 6,700 - 7,000 VND/kg, and OM 18 from 6,700 - 7,000 VND/kg.

Over the past week, the area affected by pests and diseases on the 2024-2025 winter-spring rice crop has decreased. Specifically, leaf blight, stem borers, and whiteflies have seen significant reductions. However, pests such as neck blast and grain discoloration have slightly increased in area during the heading and ripening stages, mainly concentrated in Tan Hung and Thanh Hoa districts and Kien Tuong town.

For the 2025 Summer-Autumn rice crop, farmers have sown 58,590 out of 217,300 hectares so far, reaching 27% of the plan, equivalent to 144.6% compared to the same period in 2024. Generally, the area affected by pests and diseases in the 2025 Summer-Autumn rice crop has increased. Among these, the most significant increases are in golden apple snails and rats in rice seedlings and tillering stages.

Forecasts indicate scattered occurrences of brown planthopper, while diseases such as bacterial blight, rice blast, grain discoloration, and rodent infestations will decrease in the area affected by pests and diseases on the 2024-2025 winter-spring rice crop during the heading and ripening stages. The area affected by small leaf-rolling caterpillars will increase on the 2025 summer-autumn rice crop during the seedling and tillering stages.
