On November 27th, responding to a VTC News reporter, Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, Chief of Office and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated that the Ministry had received information that Meritorious Artist Do Ky had submitted a petition regarding the suspension of his application for the title of People's Artist.
However, a spokesperson for the Ministry stated that the Ministry has not yet received the petition from Meritorious Artist Do Ky. Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet said: "If we receive the petition, we will handle it within our authority."
Meanwhile, Meritorious Artist Do Ky confirmed to VTC News reporters that he had submitted a petition to the relevant authorities on November 24th.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has confirmed that it has not yet received a petition from Meritorious Artist Do Ky.
Previously, on November 24th, Meritorious Artist Do Ky submitted a petition after receiving a notification that his application for the title of People's Artist had been rejected. According to the notification the actor received, the reason his application was put on hold was due to a complaint and an opinion from the Ministry of Public Security , stating that he did not meet the criteria for consideration for the title of People's Artist.
In his petition, Meritorious Artist Do Ky requested that the competent authorities clarify the following issues: Who filed the complaint? What is the content of the complaint?; Does his file contain any police opinion? If so, what was that opinion?...
Meritorious Artist Do Ky affirmed that during his 44 years of study and work (including 2 years, 2 months and 20 days in the military, serving in the 323rd Division, Quang Ninh Special Zone, and later at the Vietnam National Drama Theatre and the Art Department, Performing Arts Bureau), he has never violated the law and has always strictly adhered to all the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws.

"My application for the 10th People's Artist title was approved by the grassroots level after meeting all the criteria and conditions, and sent to the Central Emulation and Commendation Board. However, due to a complaint letter, it was temporarily set aside (according to Notice No. 604/TB-NTBD). But I understand that the issues raised in the complaint letter have been clarified by the Department of Performing Arts in collaboration with the Vietnam National Drama Theatre, and are unfounded, or in other words, slanderous. So, is the 'temporary setting aside' of my application justified?" - Meritorious Artist Do Ky questioned.
In closing, Meritorious Artist Do Ky hopes that leaders and competent authorities will consider and answer his questions, restoring his reputation and honor, as well as that of his family and the artistic community in general.
