Stable, less disruptive

Today, March 8th, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region remain unchanged, with limited market supply and relatively stable prices for rice and other paddy varieties.

Regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the current prices are as follows: OM 18 rice (fresh) ranges from 6,400 - 6,500 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice (fresh) ranges from 6,400 - 6,500 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice (fresh) ranges from 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg; IR 50404 rice (fresh) ranges from 5,500 - 5,600 VND/kg; OM 380 rice (fresh) ranges from 5,000 - 5,200 VND/kg; Nhat rice is at 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg; and Nang Hoa 9 rice is at 9,200 VND/kg.

Observations in many localities today show a better supply and stable buying and selling transactions. In Hau Giang , farmers are offering a lot of rice for sale, with good demand and slow transaction closing. In An Giang, a large amount of rice has been harvested, demand is higher, and prices have edged up compared to yesterday.

In Can Tho, the supply is low, with most of the land already reserved by traders. In Kien Giang , the rice supply is still quite good, demand is high, and farmers are offering prices 50-100 VND/kg higher for all varieties, with transactions going well.

Regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the current prices are as follows: OM 380 raw rice ranges from 7,850 - 8,000 VND/kg; IR 504 raw rice ranges from 8,150 - 8,200 VND/kg; OM 18 raw rice ranges from 9,300 - 9,500 VND/kg; 5451 raw rice ranges from 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg; finished OM 380 rice ranges from 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg; and finished IR 504 rice ranges from 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

Regarding by-products, prices range from approximately 5,550 to 7,300 VND/kg. Currently, the price of fragrant broken rice is around 7,100-7,300 VND/kg; broken rice (3-4 grades) has increased by 200 VND/kg, ranging from 6,600 to 6,700 VND/kg; and the price of dry rice bran is around 5,550-5,700 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

According to reports from various localities today, the supply of white rice is low, and prices remain stable, while prices of other varieties show little fluctuation. The market for high-quality IR50404 and OM380 rice is limited, and transactions are slow.

In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), the supply is limited, and prices remain stable. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), prices of all types of rice are stable. At Sa Dec market (Dong Thap), rice is arriving sporadically, warehouses are buying steadily, and prices are stable. In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang), rice is available sporadically, prices are slightly increasing, and demand is slow.

At retail markets, rice prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Currently, Nang Nhen rice is listed highest at 28,000 VND/kg; regular rice fluctuates between 15,000 and 16,000 VND/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice fluctuates between 20,000 and 22,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice is 22,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice fluctuates between 18,000 and 20,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice is at 22,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is 21,000 VND/kg; common white rice is at 17,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice fluctuates around 18,000 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice is 21,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice is 22,000 VND/kg.

On the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices remained stable today compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the current price for 5% broken rice is $389/ton; 25% broken rice is $364/ton; and 100% broken rice is $307/ton.
