On the afternoon of November 11, the Executive Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, 19th term, elected Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, to the position of Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee (term 2020 – 2025).

Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung (50 years old, from Tinh Hai commune, Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa province) holds a Master's degree in Political Economy, a Bachelor's degree in Economics, and a Bachelor's degree in English.

In March 2020, Mr. Trung was transferred to Nghe An to serve as Deputy Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, and was subsequently elected by the Nghe An Provincial People's Council to the position of Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung was elected to the position of Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, replacing Mr. Thai Thanh Quy, who was recently transferred by the Politburo to the position of Deputy Head of the Central Economic Committee.
