On June 17, US President Donald Trump said that the ceasefire agreement reached this week with Iran was not final and that he could resume bombing if he was not satisfied with the agreement, according to Reuters.
"It's a memorandum of understanding. If I don't like it, we'll go back and shoot them. If they don't behave properly, we'll immediately go back and drop bombs on them," Trump said at the G7 summit in France.
The US leader said the memorandum of agreement with Iran did not include the immediate lifting of sanctions against Tehran.
He also highly praised the framework agreement negotiated by the US administration.
"It's a very strong agreement. Nobody knows exactly what it's about, but it's very strong and most people seem very happy," the president added.
Mr. Trump believes this agreement will greatly benefit the market.
"I think oil prices could fall even lower than they were before the war," he added.
The G7 Summit was held in Evian, France, from June 15 to 17. This year's G7 summit brought together the leaders of France, the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom, along with many invited guests such as Brazil, India, South Korea, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Ukraine.
At their meeting on June 17, G7 leaders welcomed the agreement reached between the US and Iran and called for a ceasefire in Lebanon.
The group also said it would diversify its energy supply routes to reduce its dependence on the Strait of Hormuz.
The conflict between the US and Israel against Iran began on February 28 with airstrikes that killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking Iranian officials.
Negotiations on a final agreement between the US and Iran to end the conflict are expected to begin on June 19, shortly after the document is signed in Switzerland.
