Quang Tri Power Company focuses on protecting the safety corridor of the power grid.

In the management and operation of the power grid, protecting the power grid safety corridor is a crucial and necessary task. Therefore, in addition to raising awareness and encouraging people to voluntarily refrain from encroaching on the safety corridor, the Quang Tri Power Company (PC Quang Tri) always prioritizes the inspection, detection, and prevention of factors that could affect the safety and cause disruptions to the power supply.

According to a report by Quang Tri Power Company, as of the end of June 2024, the province had 3,672 cases of houses and structures located within the power grid corridor, including 31 cases with a distance of 4 meters or more at the 110kV voltage level and 3,641 cases at the 22kV voltage level with a distance of 3 meters or more, an increase of 42 cases compared to the same period in 2023.

To prevent potential risks affecting the safety of people and property, Quang Tri Power Company has proactively coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade and the Steering Committee for the Protection of High-Voltage Power Grid Safety Corridors in districts, towns, and cities to promote propaganda and mobilize people and businesses to raise awareness of their responsibility to protect the safety of power grid corridors, measures to prevent electrical accidents, and to strictly implement safety measures when constructing buildings and houses near power grid corridors.

Focus on disseminating government decrees and regulations on protecting the safety corridor of high-voltage power lines, warning against prohibited acts such as planting trees, fishing, flying kites and other airborne objects near power grid structures; theft and removal of equipment on power lines; and other violations such as arbitrarily dumping soil, digging in the power line corridor, laying telecommunication and television cables, hanging banners, etc., on power poles. Simultaneously, coordinate with mass media agencies to promote awareness on the topic of protecting the safety of power grid structures and using electricity safely, economically, and efficiently.

Besides public awareness campaigns, Quang Tri Power Company (PC Quang Tri) consistently monitors and directs its subordinate units to strengthen on-site inspections. Based on statistical data on houses and structures located under the power line corridor, and vulnerable points with potential safety risks, they develop plans and mobilize personnel to promptly handle objective incidents, minimizing subjective incidents to ensure safe and continuous power supply.

In July 2024, Quang Tri Power Company, in coordination with the Center for Industrial Cluster Development, Industrial Promotion and Public Service of Dong Ha City, carried out the pruning of 500 trees before the rainy season and storms along several key roads in the city to ensure the safety of the power grid corridor.

In addition, the Quang Tri Provincial Police also sent documents to organizations and individuals using motorized vehicles such as cranes, dump trucks, forklifts, and businesses with ready-mix concrete trucks... in the area to warn of the potential risks when operating these vehicles near power lines and electrical equipment.

Specifically, it is requested that units and individuals, when carrying out construction work, pouring ready-mix concrete, cutting trees, etc., contact the power grid management and operation unit for technical support and supervision of safety measures to ensure compliance with regulations on distance.

Specifically for high-voltage power grid systems, operating and management units should increase the frequency of monitoring in areas where high-voltage power lines pass through. Regular inspections and maintenance of electrical equipment should be maintained to eliminate or minimize equipment-related incidents.

The company also coordinates the handling of violations of the power grid safety corridor and cooperates with local authorities to continue implementing the signing of commitments to maintain the status quo for existing houses and structures within the corridor at a distance of ≥ 3m. Operating and management units regularly inspect the site to promptly detect and handle violations of the high-voltage power grid safety corridor.

Over the years, the electricity sector has actively coordinated with local authorities, agencies, and units to actively promote awareness, strengthen inspection and supervision, and handle violations. However, currently, there are still some cases of violations of the high-voltage power grid safety corridor that have not been completely resolved according to the law. This is also one of the reasons for the increase in the number of violations and the lack of deterrent effect.

Therefore, Quang Tri Power Company proposes that local authorities continue to pay more attention and be more resolute in handling cases of violations of the power grid safety corridor according to the law; coordinate with the power sector to promote propaganda to raise people's awareness of safe and economical electricity use to ensure safe and stable electricity supply, contributing positively to socio-economic development in localities.
