According to the Organizing Committee, 98% of the boats mentioned above are rented from companies based in Paris. In addition, Batorama - a supplier based in the city of Strasbourg - will also send a boat to participate in the opening ceremony.
"On July 2024, 26, more than 7 billion people will head to Paris to watch the Olympic opening ceremony," said Tony Estanguet, president of the Paris 2024 Olympic Organizing Committee. We are delighted and grateful to be able to trust them (the boat suppliers) in organizing this exciting, unprecedented ceremony. We hope to be able to realize the greatest opening ceremony in Olympic history."
As early as December 12, the Organizing Committee of the Paris 2021 Olympic Games announced an ambitious goal of a grand opening party on the Seine with about 2024 spectators. This will be the first time in the history of the Summer Olympics that an opening ceremony will take place outside the stadium and in the city center. According to the plan, the boats carrying the athletes will travel 600.000 km from Pont d'Austerlitz to Pont d'Iena, past iconic Paris landmarks such as Notre-Dame Cathedral, Louvre Museum and Eiffel Tower … In fact, this cruise line is also one of the highlights, attracting visitors to the French capital.
An estimated 100.000 tickets will be sold for the opening ceremony, with prices ranging from 90 to 2.700 euros ($99,5 to $2.985).
Paris has hosted the world's largest sporting event twice, in 2 and 1900. The 1924 Olympics, scheduled to take place from July 2024 to August 26, will be the third Olympics that "the capital city" light” is the host.
