Launching the Peak Month for the Poor in 2024

On November 13th, the People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City jointly organized a conference to launch the "For the Poor" campaign month in 2024.

This activity is in response to the "Month of Action for the Poor" and the "Nationwide Campaign for the Poor - No One Left Behind" launched by the Prime Minister .

The people and officials of Thuy Nguyen district have registered to raise 1.5 billion VND for the city's "For the Poor" Fund.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Dao Trong Duc, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City, informed: Currently, the city still has 2,032 poor households (corresponding to 0.32%) and 8,998 near-poor households (corresponding to 1.41%). Among these, many households are deeply impoverished, facing difficulties with housing and livelihoods, lacking the conditions to escape poverty, especially after typhoon No. 3. Many households are at risk of falling back into poverty, therefore requiring the concerted efforts of the entire society to effectively implement the city's policy of "social welfare must precede economic development."

In order to continue working with the Party and the State to better care for the poor and vulnerable groups, the People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City call on businesses, entrepreneurs, agencies, organizations, and all sectors of the population to actively participate in contributing to the city's "For the Poor" Fund. This will provide practical material and spiritual support to help the poor overcome difficulties and build a prosperous and happy life.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Phong City, Nguyen Van Tung, and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City, Dao Trong Duc, presented flowers and plaques recognizing businesses that have made significant contributions to the city's "For the Poor" Fund during the period 2019-2024.

Responding to the call, at the conference, agencies, units, businesses, social organizations, and philanthropists registered to donate more than 31 billion VND to the city's "For the Poor" Fund.

Representatives from VNPT, Viettel, and Mobiphone corporations in Hai Phong donated 2,300 4G mobile phones.

On this occasion, the Conference also commended and acknowledged businesses that have made significant contributions to the city's "For the Poor" Fund during the period 2019-2024.

Donations should be sent to the "For the Poor" Fund of Hai Phong City.
