Quang Ngai City has the Tra Khuc River flowing through its heart, dividing the city into north and south banks before flowing towards the sea and emptying into Dai estuary. In the general planning of Quang Ngai City until 2030, with a vision to 2050, the city will develop according to a multi-polar model, with the Tra Khuc River as the main foundation. Prior to this, the province had already developed a plan and project to build Quang Ngai City into a riverside, coastal urban area since the 2010s.
On the journey to developing Quang Ngai City into a riverside, coastal urban center, the people have always hoped for breakthroughs and the exploitation of the potential of the Tra Khuc River, especially its role in creating the landscape. In fact, many provinces and cities such as Da Nang, Hue, and Quang Nam have successfully exploited the scenic value of rivers and waterways to develop tourism and services, generating income for local residents.

In order to "revitalize" the space along the banks of the Tra Khuc River, several large-scale, dynamic projects have been, are being, and will be implemented, such as: the project to build an embankment to prevent erosion and beautify the landscape on the southern bank of the Tra Khuc River ( đoạn from Tra Khuc Bridge I to Tam Thuong Wharf); the Thach Bich Green Park project; Ba To flower garden, the flower garden in front of Song Tra Hotel, Long Dau Mountain flower garden; flower gardens and green spaces along Te Hanh road... These green areas along the riverbanks are expected to create public green spaces along the river, serving residents and tourists from all over the world for recreation and sightseeing when visiting the city on the banks of the Tra Khuc River.
However, on the north bank of the Tra Khuc River, the green spaces along Te Hanh Street, in Truong Quang Trong Ward and Tinh An Tay Commune, have not yet fulfilled their expected potential. This is because, interspersed among the public green areas along the river, invested in by the local government, are temporary shelters erected by residents to raise livestock and poultry. Waste from these activities causes concern for both locals and tourists strolling in the area. Furthermore, many sections of the sidewalks along Te Hanh Street have been turned into places for storing firewood and drying clothes by local residents.
To develop Quang Ngai City into a true riverside and coastal urban center, the value of the space along the banks of the Tra Khuc River needs to be given due attention. This attention should not only be limited to investing in large-scale projects, but also include efforts to effectively manage existing structures. Along this journey, in addition to the efforts of the local government, the people also need to share responsibility in building a civilized urban lifestyle and preserving and protecting public green spaces.
