On September 25, Saigon University organized the ICEFM 2025 International Scientific Conference with the theme “Sustainable Business Development in the AI Era”, gathering more than 200 domestic and foreign delegates including scientists, technology experts, business leaders and representatives of management agencies.
At the conference, delegates presented papers and discussed topics on the impact of AI in the fields of economics , finance and management. In particular, Professor Garry Tan Wei Han (UCSI University, Malaysia) presented on commerce in the Metaverse. The Metaverse is considered a new version of the Internet, where the real and virtual worlds are connected through virtual reality (VR) glasses, blockchain technology and avatars.
This space opens up completely new ways of communicating, learning, traveling and shopping, and at the same time promotes the development of virtual commerce. It is predicted that by 2026, about 25% of consumers will spend at least an hour a day participating in activities in this virtual world .

According to Professor Garry Tan Wei Han, many retail businesses, especially in the luxury fashion sector, have exploited the potential for superior revenue with low distribution costs. He emphasized that Metaverse is redefining the customer experience, thereby forming a completely new omnichannel business strategy.
Continuing, Professor Catherine Prentice (University of Southern Queensland, Australia) analyzed that AI is fundamentally changing the service experience with applications ranging from process automation, revenue management optimization, demand forecasting to direct customer service by robots. However, AI also poses challenges in terms of occupational safety and employee engagement. It is important to determine whether AI will replace or complement humans, and find an effective collaboration model to both enhance the customer experience and maintain the motivation and creativity of the staff.

In the financial field, a research team from Saigon University presented the Shrinkage-Enhanced Ant Colony algorithm to optimize stock portfolios. This algorithm allows investors to make decisions based on big data analysis, minimizing risks and improving investment performance in the context of highly volatile markets.
A highlight of the conference was the presentation on the SimInterview system, a multilingual interview simulation platform based on a large language model (LLM). This tool helps students practice interviewing skills in a realistic simulation environment, improving their global competitiveness. The research team representative said that the system will contribute to standardizing the quality of human resources in the AI era.
The ICEFM 2025 conference received 132 research papers from domestic and foreign scholars. According to the organizers, the conference has an academic mark, and at the same time opens up new directions for businesses, policies and communities in the AI era.
