Cam Pha High School is a project to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Quang Ninh province, which has just been inaugurated and put into use.

Cam Pha City is known as the center of coal mining and thermal power industry of Quang Ninh province. Coal and mineral mining play a key role in helping the City to be in the top localities with high growth rate of the province for many years. However, in the past 10 years, the industrial development speed has slowed down, showing that the potential for mining industry development of Cam Pha City in particular and Quang Ninh Province in general has gradually reached its limit. Open-pit coal mines have reduced reserves due to hundreds of years of exploitation. To increase production, it is necessary to invest in expensive underground mining. Recognizing these challenges, in recent times, Cam Pha City and the Coal industry have proposed many solutions to minimize the negative impacts of coal mining on the surrounding environment.

Along with that, Cam Pha City and the Coal Industry have effectively implemented the Project to ensure the urgent environment of the Coal Industry in Quang Ninh (2016 - 2020 period). This focuses on greening coal waste dumps, organizing the evacuation of people from areas at risk of landslides and flooding, as well as installing misting systems to suppress dust at points where dust can easily spread to residential areas. Coal Industry units also install automatic monitoring stations for mine wastewater quality for effective monitoring. These solutions have helped the Coal Industry fundamentally resolve conflicts, develop sustainably, and contribute to helping localities improve the living environment of the people.

Cam Pha City is becoming more and more prosperous and bustling.

At the same time, every year Cam Pha City has organized working sessions with TKV, Dong Bac Corporation and member units to unify key tasks and responsibilities for coordination in implementing tasks on environmental protection, managing illegal coal mining, processing, transportation and trading.

In order to gradually reduce the dependence on the mining industry, Cam Pha City has resolutely developed industrial production in a sustainable direction associated with environmental protection, focusing on economic restructuring solutions associated with innovating growth methods from "brown" to "green". Trade and service activities have clearly developed, diversified and rich.

Thanks to that, many large-scale, synchronous and modern projects have been invested in and built in Cam Pha City such as: Vincom Trade Center, Quang Hanh High-class Hot Mineral Resort, Cam Thinh Industrial Cluster, Quang Ninh LNG Power Plant in Cam Thinh Ward, Mong Duong 2 Thermal Power Plant, Ha Long - Cam Pha Coastal Road. When put into operation, these projects have created jobs and stable income for thousands of local workers, promoted socio-economic development and brought the city a spacious and modern urban appearance, promoting regional connectivity.

During the period from 2015 - 2020, Cam Pha City's economy continuously grew strongly, with an average GDP growth rate of 13.6% per year, higher than the province's average. The investment environment has been strongly improved, for two consecutive years (2017 - 2018), Cam Pha City maintained its leadership in the Department, Sector, and Local Competitiveness Index (DDCI).

In September 2023, the socio-economic situation in the area developed relatively stably, the production value of all sectors increased over the same period. In particular, the production value of industry and construction increased by 9.9%, agriculture - forestry - fishery increased by 9%; total retail sales of goods and service revenue increased by 16% over the same period. State budget revenue reached 12,948 billion VND, the budget revenue assigned to the locality reached 1,970 billion VND.

The above outstanding results have created a new position and strength for the city to develop faster and more sustainably, contributing positively to the transformation of the development method from "brown" to "green" as set out in the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the City Party Congress, term 2015 - 2020. In the period of 2020 - 2025, Cam Pha City sets a target of an average annual production value growth rate of 13% or more. In which, the economic structure by 2025, industry - construction is the main sector, accounting for 73.7%; trade - services account for 25.6%. In which, striving to increase the budget revenue assigned by the province by an average of 10%/year or more.

To achieve the set goals, Cam Pha City continues to maintain the "green" growth model, restructure the economy, transform the development method, associated with the effective implementation of 3 strategic breakthroughs. In particular, promoting the implementation of transport infrastructure projects, such as the Ha Long - Cam Pha - Van Don coastal road. Along with that, continuing to have mechanisms and policies to attract, train and develop high-quality human resources, leading experts, skilled technical workers, meeting the development needs of the province when implementing the innovation of the growth model, transforming the development method from "brown" to "green".
