The astronauts on the Artemis II mission continue to share impressive moments from their journey past the Moon, highlighted by a video capturing Earth "setting" behind the Moon – a phenomenon known as "Earthset".
Artemis II mission commander Reid Wiseman recorded video using his smartphone, creating a close-up yet spectacular view of space, according to IFLScience on April 21.
According to Wiseman, this experience is like "watching the sunset on the beach but from the most alien place in the universe."
Despite the limited visibility from the train windows, the iPhone was still able to capture the entire scene with 8x zoom, equivalent to what the human eye can see.
Earlier, astronaut Christina Koch also shared stunning images of this phenomenon from a different perspective on board the spacecraft.
In addition to capturing images, astronauts also conducted many important scientific activities while flying past the far side of the Moon.

They observed the surface for signs of meteorite impacts – flashes of light in the darkness. The team recorded at least five impacts in just a few minutes, and multiple specialized cameras were used to gather detailed data.
This information will play a crucial role in assessing the risks for future human missions to land on the Moon.
In addition, geological research is also a focus. For the first time, humans have the opportunity to directly observe certain areas on the far side of the Moon, supplementing data from previous probes.
The astronauts were tasked with identifying impact craters and traces of ancient lava, clues that could help decipher the moon's formation history.
The Artemis II crew also proposed names for the two new structures, one named "Integrity" after the Orion spacecraft and the other named "Carroll" after Commander Wiseman's late wife.
