The question is whether the film will have enough impact to continue the lively discussions that "The Happy Ghost" and "Debt of Life" have already generated, or will it quietly fade away amidst the booming entertainment "storm"?
The weekend was packed with game shows.
Many young viewers humorously shared on social media that they "can't accept invitations" on weekends because they're busy watching game shows. The current vibrancy of the television entertainment market stems from a series of large-scale reality shows, featuring famous artists and heavily invested in both content and form.
On June 27th, my brother overcame countless obstacles. Airing on VTV3, the show features 34 talented individuals, combining veteran performers with young artists.
This mix of talents helps the show reach a wide audience, from middle-aged to young people. Names like Huynh Lap, Dai Nghia, and Nguyen Van Chung pique viewers' curiosity as they rarely try their hand at the music scene.
Just a week later, Tinh Ha Say Hi premiered on July 3rd on HTV7, building on the success of the previous two seasons of Anh Trai Say Hi, bringing together 24 returning contestants as well as completely new faces, including foreign artists.

Also on HTV7, starting July 24th, Running Man Vietnam season 4 will return. Following the resounding success of season 3, the show is airing 3 months earlier to meet the audience's expectations. The familiar cast includes Tran Thanh, Anh Tu ATUS, Quang Tuan, Quang Trung, Lien Binh Phat, Quan AP, Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc, along with host Le Nhan.
Thus, the three weekend days were almost entirely "covered" by game shows. Friday featured Running Man; Saturday had My Brother Overcoming a Thousand Obstacles, Galaxy Say Hi, My Brother and the Little Tail ; and Sunday had Brilliant Say Hi .
Not to mention the producers of "2 Days 1 Night," Masked Singer is also preparing a new season, promising to extend the game show's popularity for many months to come. Additionally, on Monday mornings, VTV3 features Top Chef – a competition for professional chefs.

Comparing television dramas and game shows is perhaps only relative, as each type caters to different audience groups. However, from a market and advertising perspective, it remains a direct competition. The program that creates the most appeal will have a significant advantage in attracting sponsors and advertisers.
Game shows have the advantage that each episode is an independent story, so viewers don't need to follow the entire show like a television series.
In addition, the participation of many artists popular with young people creates a strong ripple effect on social media. Meanwhile, Vietnamese television dramas still face a series of familiar challenges such as production costs, script quality, and a shortage of new actors.
As soon as the news that "Deeply Affectionate Confrontation" would feature Le Minh Thanh, Tuong Vi, Dung Bino, and Yeye Nhat Ha was announced, opinions appeared on social media suggesting that "it's always the same old faces."
Although there were later responses suggesting the information was inaccurate and some actors hadn't appeared on THVL for a long time, this reaction partly shows that viewers are looking forward to seeing more new faces on screen.

And it's not just a comparison with game shows; some directors and actors acknowledge that, simply by looking back at the past, Vietnamese television dramas now face more challenges in creating appeal. Even without direct competition from game shows, many films still air and end quietly, failing to generate significant discussion.
To reach audiences, producers are changing their promotional methods. Short clips, lasting a few minutes and containing climactic moments, are constantly being posted on social media to pique curiosity and draw viewers to the film.

"Debt of Life, Borrowing and Paying Back" topped the list of most discussed films on social media between June 9 and 22 - Photo: Organizing Committee
Actor Vo Dinh Hieu, who participated in "Debt of Life, Borrowed and Repaid ," said that after filming wrapped, the actors remained in contact and discussed proactively sharing clips on their personal pages to increase the film's reach.
That consensus has been somewhat effective, as "Debt of Life, Borrowed and Repaid" topped the list of most discussed films on social media between June 9th and 22nd, according to YouNet Media statistics; the next two positions were both held by foreign films.
