Parents learn how to be friends to choose a career with their children

On September 21, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Employment Service Center coordinated to organize a training conference on knowledge and skills in career guidance in 2024 at An Nghia High School (Can Gio District). The conference attracted more than 200 parents with children studying in high school in the area to attend.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Cuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Employment Service Center, career guidance training is very necessary, contributing positively to the work of directing middle and high school students to study vocational education programs.

Not only students and teachers, parents also need to be trained to update new training programs, know how to orient and choose suitable careers for their children.

Sharing with parents, psychologist Dr. Dao Le Hoa An emphasized that parents should become companions, listen and understand their children. In some cases, parents expect too much, causing pressure on their children. Therefore, parents should not force their children to fulfill the dreams and wishes of adults. During this period, parents need to respect, guide and support their children effectively.

The session was lively with many questions answered, and the expert also suggested some tips to help children and parents be more open.

"When choosing a major, you need to prioritize your child's interests and passions, followed by criteria such as tuition fees, job opportunities after graduation, suitable study programs, etc." - Dr. Hoa An said.
