Gianluigi Donnarumma is ready to leave PSG on a free transfer. |
Currently, Donnarumma's future at PSG remains uncertain as his contract with the club expires in June 2026. La Repubblica reports that Donnarumma wants a salary increase, but PSG has refused.
The Italian national team goalkeeper is currently earning a staggering €245,000 per week, a huge sum for a goalkeeper. Therefore, the French club wants Donnarumma to reduce his salary in his new contract.
Towards the end of last year, negotiations between the two sides stalled, as Donnarumma's wishes and those of his current club, Paris Saint-Germain, were too different. The former AC Milan captain left open the possibility of leaving PSG as a free agent in the summer of 2026 to find a more financially advantageous destination.
Juventus and Inter Milan are reportedly willing to bring Donnarumma back to Italy, while Chelsea are also interested in the goalkeeper. At 26 years old, Donnarumma played a crucial role in PSG's Champions League winning campaign in the 2024/25 season, with many outstanding performances and numerous incredible saves in the knockout stages.
However, his footwork hasn't fully satisfied coach Luis Enrique. That's why PSG isn't too determined to keep the goalkeeper. If Donnarumma leaves, the reigning European champions will likely add a younger goalkeeper with better footwork.
