Following their thrilling 5-4 victory in the first leg in Paris, France, on the morning of May 7th, coach Luis Enrique and his players traveled to Munich, Germany, with the goal of avoiding defeat in the return semi-final against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Facing the immense challenge of pressure from over 70,000 German fans packed into the Allianz Arena, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) did not retreat into a defensive "parking the bus" as many had predicted. After less than three minutes of play, PSG silenced the entire stadium with a textbook counter-attack. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia broke down the left wing and delivered a perfect pass for Ousmane Dembele to finish into the top corner of the net, giving the Ligue 1 side the lead in the second leg.
Bayern Munich certainly didn't give up, with Harry Kane and his teammates pushing forward in attack, creating a dominant performance for most of the match. However, facing a PSG team that played comprehensively, especially in their ability to withstand pressure and organize their defense, the "Bavarian Lions" were truly helpless.
Not only did PSG defend resolutely, but they also showed they were truly formidable with their lightning-fast and extremely dangerous transitions. The midfield, with Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz, constantly disrupted Bayern Munich's attacks. Meanwhile, up front, the sharp runs of Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Dembele kept the home fans on edge throughout the match.
Harry Kane's late equalizer in the 90+4th minute was merely a consolation goal. PSG had already officially secured their place in the next round with an aggregate score of 6-5 after two legs.

This is the third time in history that PSG has reached the Champions League final. By becoming the first French club to achieve this feat since the tournament was renamed in 1992, PSG has broken free from the image of a "rich club lacking courage" - an image that had haunted them for over a decade while receiving massive investment from their Arab owners.
Under coach Luis Enrique, PSG is no longer entirely dependent on individuals. After saying goodbye to the era of superstars Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé, the Parisian team has been built to be a more energetic, fast-paced, and combative collective. Dembele continues his explosive form after winning the Ballon d'Or, Kvaratskhelia brings new creativity, while Joao Neves and Désiré Doué significantly rejuvenate the PSG squad.
Having overcome strong contender Bayern Munich in the semi-finals, PSG reached the Champions League final for the second consecutive year, reaffirming their new status as the number one team in France.
