Previously, the K08 ceremonial uniform used in the Vietnam People's Army was implemented according to Decree No. 82/2017 and Decree No. 61/2019. The uniform was used in ceremonies and events organized by the State, the Ministry of National Defense , and local authorities; celebratory conferences, Party congresses, congresses of mass organizations; and for receiving international delegations and Party and State leaders according to military protocol.
However, the Ministry of Defense believes that the current uniform design for male soldiers is not dignified enough, while for female soldiers it is too restrictive and unsuitable for their duties.
To address this, the Ministry of Defense directed the design and testing of a new K24 ceremonial uniform model. The new model retains the original colors, ensuring the military's traditional character, while facilitating procurement and production and saving budget.
According to the Ministry of National Defence, the initial cost for the production and procurement of K24 ceremonial uniforms for officers and professional soldiers throughout the armed forces is approximately 1,800 billion VND. Of this amount, over 320 billion VND has already been allocated in the 2024 budget for regular military equipment. The remaining budget for ensuring K24 ceremonial uniforms during the 2024-2027 period is over 1,480 billion VND.
The provision of K24 ceremonial uniforms will utilize the State budget's regular defense expenditure for 2024 and balance and ensure the standard of military uniforms for soldiers within the allocated annual budget. "Therefore, the replacement of K08 ceremonial uniforms with K24 will not affect the State budget," the Ministry of Defense reported.
