The TVRS-44 Ladoga propeller aircraft project has been suspended, and the entire research and development process has been transferred to the Russian Ministry of Defense .
This announcement was made on May 21, 2026, at a conference on aviation support for the Arctic, Siberia, and Far East regions, by Sergei Merenkov, chief designer of JSC UZGA.
According to Merenkov, based on existing developments, a cargo or passenger version will be built, but this time for the military.
However, the Lagoda's first test flight will still take place in 2026, when factory workers have been allowed to finalize the prototype and conduct tests.
The 44-seat Ladoga aircraft was originally developed to replace the aging An-24, An-26, and Yak-40 aircraft. Certification was planned for 2029. Rumors about the imminent cancellation of the civilian version of this project have been circulating in aviation circles for the past few months.

The TVRS-44 Lagoda's design utilizes many components and assemblies from other Russian aircraft currently in mass production. This helps accelerate the development process and reduce manufacturing costs.
The prototypes of the TVRS-44 Ladoga will be equipped with the TV7-117ST-02 engine; they will also undergo testing to obtain certification as part of the aircraft. The new engine is based on the TV7-117ST-01, which was developed for the Il-114-300 passenger aircraft.
Unlike the base engine, the new unit features a sealed oil system and a new generator with a higher rotational frequency, as well as other design changes that minimize fuel consumption, with a claimed takeoff power of 2,400 horsepower.
