Earlier, the Russian government's press office announced that Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin would visit Beijing and Shanghai on May 23 and 24.
Commenting on the visit, Wang Wenbin stated: "The cooperative relationship between China and Russia – its largest neighbors and countries with emerging markets – is very strong and has enormous potential."

During his talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, Mishustin will discuss cooperation topics in the fields of industry, energy, transportation, and agriculture.
The visit takes place against the backdrop of Moscow and Beijing continuously strengthening cooperation in many areas over the past years.
Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Moscow in March 2023, holding talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders lauded a "new era" in bilateral relations and discussed Beijing's proposals to help end the conflict in Ukraine.
Russia and China agreed on an "unrestricted" strategic partnership in February 2022. Both sides have since repeatedly affirmed the strength of their relationship, with bilateral trade increasing.
