On the evening of March 3rd, the opening ceremony of the 9th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival 2023, themed "I Love Vietnamese Ao Dai," took place on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street (District 1). After eight editions, the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival has become a distinctive annual cultural tourism event of the city.

This year's opening ceremony of the Ao Dai Festival was grandly invested in and featured innovative content.

Attending the opening ceremony were former Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, President of the Vietnam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Doan Van Viet, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le, and representatives from diplomatic missions.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the ao dai not only symbolizes the beauty of the Vietnamese people, but also evokes memories of a beautiful, friendly, and peaceful Vietnam; a destination rich in cultural identity in the hearts of international tourists.

That inherent strength of the ao dai is an endless source of inspiration for designers and artists nationwide to create increasingly attractive Ao Dai Festivals in the city, always eagerly awaited by locals and tourists every March.

Over its eight editions, the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival has showcased to international friends and tourists a modern and culturally rich city, vibrant and safe, friendly and charming. It's a place where visitors can find unique experiences and memorable emotions through diverse events and direct interaction with tourists.

Having been held eight times, the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival has become an annual cultural tourism event of the city.

"The 9th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival in 2023 continues to invest in scale and innovate in content and form to express the strong aspiration for recovery and readiness to accelerate development of the city named after President Ho Chi Minh in the new phase," Vice Chairman Duong Anh Duc shared.

At the opening ceremony, hundreds of actors and models showcased 21 collections by renowned domestic and international ao dai designers, based on main themes including: Ao Dai in the heart of the city, Ao Dai integrating with the world , Ao Dai - the essence of a thousand years…

Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said that this year's Ao Dai Festival reflects the strong aspiration to restore and accelerate the development of Ho Chi Minh City in the new phase.

In particular, the opening ceremony of the 9th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival in 2023 also featured performances of Ao Dai by individuals and groups with special circumstances, as well as performances of Ao Dai by the city's residents, businesses, agencies, departments, and children.
