Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee said that, implementing the direction of the Prime Minister and responding to the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses", by August 2025, the province had basically completed the set goals, making an important contribution to social security, sustainable poverty reduction and new rural construction.

Accordingly, in the locality, the total number of approved houses for support is 14,994, of which 8,681 are newly built and 6,313 are repaired and renovated. Quang Tri province (old) has 7,486 houses, Quang Binh province (old) has 7,508 houses. The total number of houses that have started construction is 13,467 houses. The total number of completed houses is 12,221 houses, of which 6,328 are newly built; 5,893 are renovated and repaired.

The total implementation cost reached VND 1,615.42 billion, including VND 446.72 billion from the central budget, VND 134.20 billion from 5% savings, VND 83.15 billion from the local budget, VND 203.93 billion from the people, VND 457.34 billion allocated by the central steering committee and VND 290.08 billion from local mobilization. In addition, the program received 15,677 working days and many construction materials supported by organizations and units.

The program is implemented throughout the province, divided into 3 main target groups. For poor and near-poor households, the province supports 5,438 houses. Currently, 5,347 houses (98.33%) have been completed and put into use, while 91 houses are being completed. It is expected that 5,438 houses (100%) will be completed before August 31, 2025.

For households with revolutionary contributions and martyrs’ relatives, the province supports 4,906 houses. Currently, 4,732 houses have been completed, and 174 houses are under construction. It is expected that 4,732 houses (100%) will be completed before August 31, 2025.

For poor households in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, the province approved support for 3,813 houses (all newly built). Construction of 2,573 houses has been started, and 2,093 houses have been completed (54.89%). Particularly, the target assigned by the National Target Program is 1,421 houses, Quang Tri has exceeded the target with 2,093 houses (147.29%). It is expected that by December 31, 2025, 2,573 houses will be completed (181.07% of the plan). In addition, the province also supported 837 houses for near-poor households in ethnic minority areas, of which 550 houses have been started and 49 houses have been completed.

Mr. Tran Phong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, said that in the locality, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses was urgently implemented, attracting strong support from the social community. The program received active participation from many units and forces. The Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union launched the movement "Youth Union members contribute 20,000 working days" and mobilized over 10,600 working days.

The provincial police supported nearly 200 tons of cement, hundreds of millions of VND and labor days. The provincial Border Guard undertook the construction of hundreds of houses for the disadvantaged. The provincial Labor Federation mobilized and supported billions of VND. Many households also proactively contributed additional funds and labor. Authorities at all levels closely coordinated, mobilized and effectively used resources to ensure progress.

However, locally, the program still faces some difficulties, such as 1,240 houses that have not been able to start construction due to lack of central funding. In addition, some households do not have enough conditions to match, the custom of choosing a date to build a house or difficult geographical conditions also affect the progress.

The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has sent a document reporting to the Central Government on the need for additional resources to complete the target in 2025. "With the strong direction of the provincial leaders, the participation of departments, localities and especially the joint efforts of the community, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Tri is approaching the finish line," said the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province.
