After many months of training, 16,000 soldiers from the Army, Police, artillery, and Russian, Lao, and Cambodian military groups practiced for the first time in a parade on Ba Dinh Square.

Crowds of people flocked to both sides of the road where the army was passing. Some people came as early as 7am to reserve a spot.
The atmosphere was solemn as if it was a great festival day.
Near the gathering point on Trang Tien Street, the soldiers smiled and high-fived people standing on both sides of the street.
The longest parade route is from Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to the gathering point at Quan Ngua Sports Palace (Van Cao Street) with a length of nearly 4 km.
Here, the marching groups still maintained their proud demeanor even though many soldiers' faces were now drenched in sweat.
In particular, every time the female marching group passes by, the cheers get louder to encourage the "steel roses".
At the entrance to Quan Ngua Sports Palace, male soldiers of the Militia and Self-Defense Force were given mineral water by the people to quench their thirst.
The parade force touched hands with the children, made heart shapes... to respond to the love and enthusiastic cheers of the people on Van Cao street.
Nguyen Minh Thu (Military Band) was accompanied by a close friend who brought milk and a hand fan to wait at the assembly point to give her strength. On the evening of August 21, although the weather was quite favorable, the long parade route made the soldiers tired.
Before leaving by car, the soldiers stayed behind to take pictures with the young people who came to cheer them on.
