According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in New Delhi, on the evening of September 30, the Vietnamese Embassy in India solemnly organized a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1945-2025), marking a glorious historical milestone for the nation.
Attending the ceremony was Mr. Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skills Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education , as the main guest, representing the Government of India.
In addition, the ceremony was honored to welcome leaders of Indian political parties, heads of diplomatic missions of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), important partners of Vietnam, as well as a large number of guests and the Vietnamese community living, working, and studying in India.
At the beginning of the ceremony, in a solemn and tranquil atmosphere, the delegates performed the flag-raising ceremony of Vietnam and India.
In his opening remarks at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai emphasized the historical significance of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and ushering in a new era in the history of the Vietnamese nation.
Over the past eight decades, Vietnam has transformed from a poor, war-torn country into a dynamic, vibrant nation with an increasingly prominent position on the international stage.
According to Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai, after nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi (Renovation) policy, Vietnam has risen to become one of the most open and fastest-growing economies in Asia, ranking among the 32 largest economies in the world and in the top 20 in terms of trade and attracting foreign direct investment.
Alongside economic growth, Vietnam has achieved significant social progress, ranging from poverty reduction and free general education to administrative reforms and improved healthcare services.
Regarding international relations, the Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam is steadfast in its independent, self-reliant, peaceful, cooperative, diversified, and multilateral foreign policy. Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with all 193 member states of the United Nations and has Strategic Partnerships or Comprehensive Strategic Partnerships with 30 countries, including India.
Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai stated that the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has been, is, and will continue to develop strongly in the fields of economics, defense, culture, education, and technology.
The ambassador emphasized: “The two countries maintain a high level of political trust, coordinate closely in international forums, and work towards a common goal: Vietnam becoming a high-income country by 2045, and India becoming a developed country by 2047, for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development of the region and the world.”
The Ambassador also expressed sincere gratitude for India's long-standing support in human resource training and skills development, and affirmed that cooperative initiatives in education, culture, technology, and trade are opening up many new opportunities, strengthening the friendship and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Also at the ceremony, Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary expressed his admiration and deep affection for Vietnam, emphasizing that the 80th anniversary of National Day is a special occasion to honor the national pride and resilient spirit of the Vietnamese people, as well as their journey of prosperous development in the 21st century.
On behalf of the Government and people of India, he extended his warmest congratulations to the Government and people of Vietnam and all Vietnamese friends attending the event.
He affirmed that the India-Vietnam relationship has a long history, is culturally and spiritually connected, and is strengthened today through trade, investment, leadership exchanges, and cooperation mechanisms.
He emphasized that key areas of cooperation, from agriculture, education, heritage preservation, technology to aviation, all contribute to creating a sustainable foundation for knowledge exchange, people-to-people connections, and shared development. He affirmed India's commitment to further strengthening friendship, cooperation, and deep ties with Vietnam, aiming to bring long-term benefits to both nations.
In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai and Secretary of State Jayant Chaudhary raised their glasses in a toast and cut the cake to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day.
Concluding the ceremony in a warm and friendly atmosphere, all guests enjoyed traditional Vietnamese dishes and distinctive Indian cuisine, creating intimate and friendly moments of cultural exchange. The event left a positive impression on international friends, contributing to strengthening friendship, consolidating trust, and opening up new prospects for cooperation between Vietnam and India in the future.
