Unlocking potential and positioning the tourism brand of Quang Tri.
According to the socio -economic development plan for the period 2026-2030, Quang Tri province identifies tourism as one of the four pillars of growth, along with energy, logistics, and green agriculture. The goal is to welcome 13-15 million tourists by 2030, contributing approximately 10% to the province's GRDP and becoming a leading attractive destination in Vietnam and a center for adventure tourism in Asia.
This orientation is determined by Quang Tri 's most outstanding advantage: the convergence of unique natural and cultural resources. Possessing nearly 200 km of coastline and a forest cover rate of 61%, a diverse ecosystem, and many outstanding global heritage values, the province has favorable conditions for developing diverse types of tourism.

With tourism spaces stretching from the sea to the forest, from coastal resorts to primeval forests and the magnificent cave systems of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang World Natural Heritage Site, the establishment of the first cross-border heritage site between Vietnam and Laos with Hin Nam No National Park has opened up opportunities for the development of ecotourism and nature exploration on an international scale.
In addition, Quang Tri is a land rich in historical traditions, preserving many landmarks associated with the nation's aspiration for peace, such as: Vinh Moc Tunnels, Hien Luong - Ben Hai riverbanks, Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery, Duong 9 National Martyrs Cemetery, Ta Con Airport, and a series of famous revolutionary historical sites.
Many of the province's tourism products have made their mark on the world tourism map, such as the "Son Doong Cave Discovery Journey - the world's largest cave," which further affirms Vietnam's adventure tourism brand; the Tan Hoa tourist village experience - a village honored by the World Tourism Organization as the "Best Tourist Village in the World" in 2023; and rural tourist destinations that are becoming models for community-based tourism development linked to nature conservation and adaptation to climate change.
These advantages are gradually being transformed into drivers of economic growth. In 2025, Quang Tri is expected to welcome nearly 9.6 million tourists, with total tourism revenue exceeding 11,000 billion VND. In just the first five months of 2026, the locality continued to welcome over 4.27 million tourists, an increase of over 17.5% compared to the same period last year, demonstrating the growing attractiveness of Quang Tri as a tourist destination.
Ready for the Quang Tri National Tourism Year 2027
With its outstanding achievements and development potential, Quang Tri has been selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to host the National Tourism Year 2027. This is considered a golden opportunity to promote its image, attract investment, and elevate the local tourism brand on a national and international scale.
The year 2027 also holds significant historical importance for Quang Tri province, as it marks major events such as the 70th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Quang Binh - Vinh Linh (June 16, 1957 - June 16, 2027), the 55th anniversary of the liberation of Quang Tri province, and the 81-day and 81-night battle to defend the Quang Tri Citadel. This is also the year Vietnam will host the APEC Summit in Phu Quoc, and many large-scale tourism, resort, and entertainment projects are expected to become operational.
According to the plan, the National Tourism Year - Quang Tri 2027 will be a typical national-scale cultural, tourism, economic, and social event, aiming for international recognition, contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam, its people, and Quang Tri as a destination to domestic and international friends.
Through the series of activities of the National Tourism Year, Quang Tri province hopes to promote tourism development linkages between localities nationwide, especially in the North Central and Central Coastal regions; connect world heritage sites, build distinctive tourism products, and enhance the competitiveness of local tourism.
To prepare for this important event, Quang Tri is focusing on improving tourism infrastructure, boosting investment promotion, developing high-end resort areas, entertainment services, night-time economy, and green tourism products, ecotourism, and historical-peace tourism with unique characteristics.
The province has also strengthened the application of digital technology in tourism promotion and marketing; expanding cooperation with international media and film companies to spread the image of the destination. Popular programs such as BBC Planet Earth III, SILAA from India, and 60 Minutes from the US have contributed to bringing the image of Quang Tri to millions of viewers around the world.

Speaking to a reporter from the Industry and Trade Newspaper, a representative from the Quang Tri Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated: “The National Tourism Year 2027 is not only an opportunity to promote the image of Quang Tri but also a driving force to boost infrastructure investment, improve service quality, diversify products, and reposition the Quang Tri province's tourism brand towards a professional and modern direction. This is an opportunity for Quang Tri to affirm its image as a peaceful, experiential, and unique destination on the tourism map of Vietnam and internationally.”
According to the set targets, in 2027, Quang Tri province aims to welcome 12-13.5 million tourists, including 700,000-1 million international visitors; total tourism revenue is expected to reach 15,000-16,000 billion VND. Simultaneously, the province will launch or commence construction on 10-15 high-end resort tourism projects and infrastructure projects to support tourism development, and put into operation 5-10 hotels meeting 4-5 star standards or higher.
With its unique potential, clear development strategy, and thorough preparation for the National Tourism Year 2027, Quang Tri is facing a great opportunity to create a strong transformation, making tourism a truly leading economic sector and contributing increasingly to green growth and sustainable development of the locality in the new era.
According to the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in mid-June, the online travel platform Agoda announced a list of outstanding nature-connected resort destinations in Asia. Among them, Phong Nha (Quang Tri) was rated as an ideal destination for immersing oneself in nature, healing, and rejuvenating.
