New regulations on military uniforms

The Government issued Decree No. 22/2024/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 82/2016/ND-CP dated July 1, 2016 stipulating military insignia, ranks, badges and uniforms of the Vietnam People's Army and Decree No. 61/2019/ND-CP dated July 10, 2019 detailing a number of articles and measures to implement the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard.

Decree No. 22/2024/ND-CP amending regulations on: Ceremonial uniforms for male officers, professional soldiers, officer cadets and officer trainees; Ceremonial uniforms for female officers, professional soldiers, officer cadets and officer trainees; Ceremonial uniforms for male officers, professional soldiers, officer cadets and officer trainees of the Vietnam Coast Guard; Ceremonial uniforms for female officers, professional soldiers, officer cadets and officer trainees of the Vietnam Coast Guard...

Regarding the ceremonial uniforms of male officers, professional soldiers, officer cadets and officer trainees, Decree No. 22/2024/ND-CP stipulates that the kepi cap has an oval top; the cap buttons of generals, rear admirals, vice admirals and admirals of the Navy are embossed with the national emblem, and those of colonels and lieutenants are embossed with a five-pointed star; in the middle of the front of the cap is a canopy for wearing military insignia; on the front of the cap is a cord, and below the cap is an image of two rice ears.

Army: Dark olive cap top, red cap wall; Border Guard: Dark olive cap top, green cap wall; Air Defense - Air Force: Dark blue cap top, peace blue cap wall; Navy: White cap top, purple cap wall.

Jacket: Long sleeve, V-shaped lapels; front has 4 hidden pockets, buttoned pocket flaps; back has a slit at the back; shoulder has shoulder straps with rank insignia; logo attached to the top of the left sleeve; cuffs on both sides of the sleeves (general rank in the shape of a pine branch; colonel and lieutenant rank in the shape of a rice flower).

Pants: Long dress pants, with 2 diagonal pockets, open-front zipper. Army and Border Guard pants are dark olive; Air Defense - Air Force pants are dark blue; Navy pants are white.

Shirt worn inside: Loose-fitting, long-sleeved, stand-up collar, white. Tie: Pre-tied; Army and Border Guard dark olive, Air Defense - Air Force dark blue, Navy dark purple.

Belt: Leather core; general, rear admiral, vice admiral, Navy admiral with double-layer leather; colonel, lieutenant with smooth single-sided leather; Army and Border Guard brown, Air Defense - Air Force and Navy black. Gold metal buckle with embossed five-pointed star inscribed in a circle.

Leather shoes: General, Rear Admiral, Vice Admiral, Navy Admiral: plain toe, fixed laces; Colonel: horizontal ribbed toe, fixed laces; Lieutenant: horizontal ribbed toe, laces. Army, Border Guard, Air Defense - Air Force: black shoes; Navy: white shoes.

Socks: Tube weave; Army and Border Guard dark olive, Air Defense - Air Force dark blue, Navy white.

Regarding the uniforms of male officers, professional soldiers, officer cadets and officer trainees of the Vietnam Coast Guard, Decree No. 22/2024/ND-CP stipulates that the kepi cap has an oval top; the cap button of the general rank is embossed with the national emblem, and the cap button of the colonel and lieutenant rank is embossed with a five-pointed star; in the middle of the front forehead of the cap is a sunshade for wearing military insignia; on the front of the cap is a corkscrew, below the cap is an image of two rice ears. The cap top is dark purple, the cap edge is blue.

Long-sleeved jacket, V-shaped lapels; front body has 4 hidden pockets, pocket flaps with buttons; back body has a slit at the back; shoulder has shoulder strap with rank insignia; on the top of the left sleeve is the Vietnam Coast Guard logo; on the bottom of both sleeves are cuffs (general rank in the shape of a pine branch; colonel and lieutenant rank in the shape of a rice flower).

Long dress pants, dark blue, with 2 diagonal pockets, open-front zipper. Long-sleeved, stand-up collar, white shirt. Tie: Pre-tied; dark blue.

Belt: Leather core, black; general rank with two layers of leather; colonel and lieutenant rank with smooth single-sided leather. Belt buckle is gold-colored metal with embossed five-pointed star inscribed in a circle.

Leather shoes: General's shoes, plain toe, fixed laces; Colonel's shoes, horizontal ribbed toe, fixed laces; Lieutenant's shoes, horizontal ribbed toe, laces; black. Socks: Woven tube style, dark purple.
