Eximbank leaders believe that locating its headquarters in Hanoi will help the bank improve its position.

According to the investigation of the reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, before the Board of Directors of Vietnam Export-Import Bank (Eximbank) issued Resolution No. 307/2024/EIB-HDQT, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Acting General Director of this bank, submitted a document dated September 26, 2024 requesting the Board of Directors to approve the transfer of headquarters from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi.

In this report, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hai said that over the 35 years of establishment and development, from the initial charter capital of 50 billion VND to date, Eximbank has reached 17,653 billion VND in charter capital with 215 branches and transaction points nationwide. Eximbank's current head office is on the 8th Floor, Office No. L8-01-11+16, Vincom Center Building, 72 Le Thanh Ton, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, HCMC.

However, Eximbank's current operations are still concentrated in the Southern region, with the proportion of the Southern market in the bank's operations reaching about 65%. Meanwhile, the North is a very dynamic economic region, with the concentration of many state-owned and private economic groups and the world's leading FDI enterprises, an important market for the bank's future growth orientation.

Mr. Hai said that Hanoi is the economic, financial and political center of the whole country. This is also the headquarters of many state management agencies, especially the State Bank of Vietnam. Most joint stock commercial banks are currently headquartered in Hanoi.

Therefore, Mr. Hai believes that locating its headquarters in Hanoi will help Eximbank improve its position in Hanoi and the Northern region, help balance development between the two regions, and aim to achieve the strategic goal of becoming the leading bank in Vietnam with a brand covering the whole country.

Based on the above reality, Eximbank's Acting General Director Nguyen Hoang Hai has submitted a proposal to the Board of Directors to consider, approve the policy and submit to the General Meeting of Shareholders for approval to move the current head office location to a new location: Building 29 Ly Thai To, No. 27 - 29 Ly Thai To, Ly Thai To Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi and has been approved by Eximbank's Board of Directors.
