National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue stated: The Vietnamese National Assembly highly appreciates the role of the IPU, a highly prestigious multilateral forum in the world, operating with the goal of peace, cooperation, development, democracy, human rights, gender equality, progress and social justice, and which has been playing an increasingly important role in promoting inter-parliamentary cooperation mechanisms.
In particular, the IPU and the United Nations discuss solutions to global issues that no single country can solve on its own, making a significant contribution to maintaining peace, stability, and sustainable development worldwide.
In the context of the rapidly evolving, complex, and unpredictable global situation, the Speaker of the National Assembly believes that the operational mechanism of the IPU in conjunction with the United Nations is playing an even more important role. This is also an experience that regional inter-parliamentary organizations can learn from in order to discuss and resolve regional issues together with other regional organizations.

Actively and proactively implement the resolutions and initiatives of the IPU.
The Speaker of the National Assembly stated that since becoming a member of the IPU in 1979, the Vietnamese National Assembly has always strived to participate actively and responsibly in the activities of the IPU, ready to work with the IPU and the parliaments of member countries to implement IPU resolutions and initiatives to contribute to building peace and sustainable development for the common good of humanity.
In particular, the Vietnamese National Assembly is especially interested in and supportive of the "Say Yes to Youth in Parliament" movement launched by the IPU and hopes to see more and more young parliamentarians in parliaments around the world.
"This also reflects the reality of Vietnam, with its young population structure where children account for more than 25% of the total population. The number of young National Assembly deputies according to IPU standards is currently 124, accounting for more than 25% of the total number of National Assembly deputies," the Speaker of the National Assembly said.
The IPU President congratulated the Vietnamese National Assembly and its Chairman, Vuong Dinh Hue, for truly placing their trust in and inspiring the youth.
Having just attended the "Strengthening Digital Capacity for Youth" seminar held within the framework of this year's Global Young Parliamentarians Conference, the IPU President emphasized that the discussion session demonstrated the vitality of Vietnamese youth with their enthusiastic opinions.
"Vietnamese youth have also participated very actively in the Conference's agenda. This has happened thanks to the National Assembly and the Speaker of the National Assembly giving space and creating opportunities for young people to have their voices heard," said the IPU President.
The IPU President emphasized that the agenda at the upcoming Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians is of great importance for achieving the sustainable development goals and for how to engage young people in achieving these goals.
Progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals has been significantly slowed due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and other factors and priorities. However, this is a time when the international community must make every effort to ensure the success of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The IPU Secretary-General stated that this Young Parliamentarians Conference is an opportunity to review the implementation of the Hanoi Declaration and the Sustainable Development Goals, and to find solutions to promote the achievement of these goals through the participation of youth and young parliamentarians; and to explore how young people can participate in the policy-making process and propose measures to promote the successful implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
