Users can download nTrust starting today (July 30) to protect their phones and join the nTrust anti-fraud community.
On July 30th, the National Cyber Security Association (NCA) launched the nTrust anti-fraud software. This is a completely free application for smartphones that helps detect signs of fraud by checking phone numbers, account numbers, website links, and QR codes.
The software also supports scanning applications on the phone, detecting malware or fake software. Users can download the software from two popular app stores: Google Play for Android and the App Store for iOS (iPhone).
nTrust is a non-profit software project that does not use government funding; its funding is raised through social donations. The software was introduced on May 13th at the Cyber Fraud Prevention workshop organized by the NCA.
The newly released version has been updated and refined based on feedback from hundreds of volunteers who participated in the beta test in June 2024. This includes significant improvements in malware scanning capabilities and optimized software performance.
Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, Head of Research, Consulting, Technology Development and International Cooperation at NCA, stated: “Currently, the nTrust anti-fraud database has over 1 million records, verified and compiled from data sources of the Ministry of Public Security , the Ministry of Information and Communications, the State Bank of Vietnam, and member cybersecurity organizations of NCA. We hope that after its launch, with the participation of the user community, this dataset will grow rapidly in the near future.”
Users can download nTrust starting today to protect their phones and join the nTrust anti-fraud community. Accordingly, if they detect any signs of fraud, users can report suspicious phone numbers, account numbers, links, or apps to the center via the built-in feature in the software. This reported data will be collected, verified, and updated for the entire nTrust user community.
nTrust anti-phishing software prioritizes privacy, allowing users complete control over and control over which information to check and report.
Notably, unlike similar foreign software on the market, the entire process of checking for scam or harassing calls is performed solely on the phone, without sending any information to the server. Instructions and detailed information about the software can be found at https://nTrust.vn
In recent times, anti-fraud measures from regulatory agencies, such as standardizing telecommunications subscriptions, disseminating information and guidance on personal data protection, and most recently, requiring biometric authentication, have gradually narrowed the scope of fraudsters' activities. However, experts also believe that online fraud will continue to evolve with new forms and technologies emerging. nTrust will contribute as an effective protective shield, helping users detect fraud risks early before conducting transactions online.
