The musical, depicting the journey of a young boy named Thien Nhan in rediscovering joy, has premiered.

The journey of Ms. Mai Anh and her adopted son, Thien Nhan, as they overcame much pain and hardship to give the boy a complete life, has moved many people.

Specifically, in 2006, Ms. Tran Thi Mai Anh adopted Thien Nhan, a boy abandoned in a banana plantation whose genitals were eaten by wild animals. Not wanting her son to live the rest of his life with this disability, Ms. Mai Anh dedicated over a decade, traveling across continents with him to find a way to give him a complete life.

With the desire to recreate the journey of "the little tin soldier" Thien Nhan in rediscovering joy in life, the Youth Theatre and the Thien Nhan & Friends Foundation decided to stage the musical "The Five-Colored Stone ".

In the musical, the character of little Mai always clutches the five-colored stone – a symbol of faith in miracles – throughout her life, and from there, not only does it create a fairy tale for Thien Nhan, but the magic from Thien Nhan's story has brought hope and changed the lives of many other children.

The musical includes many scenes such as "Don't Be Afraid, My Child," "Heart Without Borders," "Green Dream," "Fragrant Heart," "Heart Without Borders," "Green Dream," "Fragrant Heart," etc., combined with modern music performed live throughout the performance by the young band Chicktown, conveying many meaningful messages about faith, love, and hope.

For the Youth Theatre, this is another effort in staging purely Vietnamese musicals – a genre of musicals created, staged, and performed by Vietnamese people, with content based on Vietnamese stories.

Director Cao Ngoc Anh shared: “The young actors were selected very carefully because of the challenging nature of contemporary musical theater today. They must possess a '3-in-1' performance ability: dancing, acting, and singing.”

But with these efforts, we hope that in the not too distant future, Vietnamese Musical Theatre will be able to bring Vietnamese stories and performances to spread Vietnamese works to the global audience.”

Through this musical, the artists and the Thien Nhan & Friends Foundation hope to spread faith in goodness and in the miracles created by human belief.

A portion of the musical's proceeds will be donated to the fund, which will begin operating in November 2023, where many more children will have their lives transformed by the compassionate hands of doctors.
