Real Madrid's chances of signing Arsenal star are over.

Central defender William Saliba has agreed to extend his contract with Arsenal, marking a significant milestone in his journey with the North London club.

According to Four Four Two , the French player has finalized a contract extension with Arsenal until June 2030 with a significant salary increase from £190,000 per week to around £250,000 per week, placing him among the highest-paid players in the team.

Saliba's previous contract was set to run until 2027, but Arsenal acted quickly to retain their defensive mainstay amid interest from big clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid.

Since becoming a key player for Arsenal under manager Mikel Arteta, Saliba has been considered one of the best central defenders in the world today. Retaining Saliba is a major success for Arteta and Sporting Director Andrea Berta, especially considering Arsenal recently signed a number of new players such as Viktor Gyökeres and Martin Zubimendi at a total cost of over £250 million.

Saliba has long been on Real Madrid's radar. The French center-back is seen as part of the Bernabeu club's long-term rebuilding plan. Real Madrid even planned to sign the French defender and were willing to spend more than £85 million (equivalent to over €100 million) on the Arsenal star.
