With the proliferation of summer daycare services, the Da Nang Department of Education and Training is taking decisive action to rectify the situation.

Acting as parents looking for a place to enroll their children in an upcoming summer daycare program, we contacted and received price quotes from several daycare centers in Da Nang City. For example, one center in Cam Le District (Da Nang City) advertised a pre-primary daycare program at a price of 1.7 - 1.85 million VND/month.

At this price, from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM each day (Monday to Friday), children in the daycare class will learn math, Vietnamese, English, drawing, and critical thinking math. Lunch and dessert alone for 20 days costs 500,000 VND per child.

This center is committed to ensuring that children attending the half-day program will be taught by reputable teachers and receive attentive care.

A center is posting enrollment notices for summer day camps from Monday to Friday every week.

According to a survey by reporters, many computer and English language centers in the city are also posting announcements for summer day camp classes with costs ranging from 2 to 3 million VND per month. On social media groups, the topic of sending children to summer day camp classes is being discussed enthusiastically by parents.

These groups and associations also "take advantage" of the situation to introduce special offers for parents who enroll their children in summer daycare programs. In addition, private classes run by individuals who claim to be teachers are also openly recruiting students for summer daycare.

Ms. NTH (residing in Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang City) said that as early as April, she had been looking for summer daycare classes for her son, who was preparing to enter first grade. Ms. H. shared that although she wanted to give her son a fulfilling summer, her work prevented her from being home with him, even on Saturdays, so she had to find an auditing summer daycare class for him to attend.

On various forums and groups, parents post requests for summer day camps for their children and receive responses from many individuals and centers.

"I found a summer daycare/auditing program for 2 million VND per month. I plan to enroll my child there after the school year ends so she can learn math, English, and Vietnamese, which will also help her get acquainted with the alphabet and avoid feeling overwhelmed when she starts first grade," said Ms. H.

Mr. Tran Nguyen Minh Thanh, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, said that in mid-April, the Department sent a document to relevant units regarding the rectification of foreign language training, computer science training, life skills education , and extracurricular educational activities.

An English language center is advertising enrollment for its summer day camp.

Mr. Thanh affirmed that language, computer, and life skills centers are absolutely prohibited from organizing summer English day camps, summer life skills day camps, day camp activities for students, and preschool childcare at their operating locations. Organizing these activities is not within the center's duties or authority.

At the same time, centers that organize and teach programs approved by the Department of Education and Training are prohibited from arbitrarily using textbooks and teaching materials that contradict the programs registered with the Department of Education and Training and current regulations.

Individuals who identify themselves as teachers are also posting job openings for summer daycare classes.

Mr. Thanh said that the Department has requested the Education and Training Departments of districts and counties to continue strengthening the review and coordination of inspections of units in their areas; proactively proposing and advising the People's Committees of districts and counties and the Department of Education and Training if they discover units operating without a license or not in accordance with their functions, so that they can be promptly handled and resolved according to regulations.

"The Department will coordinate with relevant departments and agencies and the Education and Training Departments of districts and counties to strengthen inspections and audits of the organization and operation of foreign language, computer science, and life skills centers. If violations are detected, the Department will proceed with procedures to suspend or dissolve them according to regulations," said Tran Nguyen Minh Thanh, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Education and Training.
