According to Bloomberg, the iPhone 17 Air, also known as the iPhone 17 Slim, will likely be around 6.3mm thick, a significant reduction compared to the previous generation of iPhones. With the current thickness of the iPhone 16 Pro being 8.3mm, this design could make the iPhone 17 Air the thinnest iPhone ever produced by Apple, surpassing the iPhone 6 (6.9mm) launched in 2014.
One of the key factors that helps the iPhone 17 Air achieve its impressive thinness is that Apple is expected to switch to using its own telecommunications modem instead of relying on Qualcomm. This modem will first appear on the iPhone SE 4 in March 2025 and then be integrated into the iPhone 17 models.
