Bustling Bang Ca Village Festival 2025

On the morning of February 28th, at the Thanh Y Dao ethnic group's cultural conservation area, Bang Ca commune, Ha Long city ... The opening ceremony of the Bang Ca Village Festival 2025 was solemnly held.

2025 will be the first year that the Bang Ca Village Festival is organized on a city-wide scale.

The Bang Ca Village Festival is a traditional festival deeply rooted in the cultural identity of the Dao Thanh Y ethnic group in Bang Ca commune, Ha Long City, with the meaning of praying for favorable weather, prosperous business, bountiful harvests, and happiness for the people.

The village festival is held regularly on five days a year (including February 1st, April 1st, July 1st, October 1st, and the 20th day of the 12th lunar month), with February 1st (lunar calendar) being the main New Year's celebration.

The Bang Ca Village Festival in 2025 will take place over two days, February 28th and March 1st (corresponding to the 1st and 2nd days of the second lunar month). Associated with the Announcement Ceremony of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Dao Thanh Y people's Coming-of-Age Ceremony, the New Rice Festival of the Tay people, and the Ceremony to receive the certificate recognizing Bang Ca commune as achieving advanced New Rural Area standards .

At the Bang Ca village festival, locals and tourists alike can immerse themselves in a vibrant and joyful cultural atmosphere, rich in local identity. Besides traditional sports and games like football, tug-of-war, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, bamboo pole dancing, throwing the "con" (a type of ball), stilt walking, cultural exchanges, and bonfires, visitors can also experience making "banh gu" (a type of rice cake), pounding "banh giay" (another type of rice cake), try on traditional costumes of the Dao Thanh Y people, visit stalls, and enjoy local products.

2025 marks the first time the Bang Ca Village Festival will be organized on a city-wide scale, in accordance with the approved Ha Long - Festival City Project. This aims to preserve and promote traditional cultural values, while also contributing to the promotion of the cultural image of the Dao Thanh Y people in Bang Ca commune in particular, and the people of various ethnic groups in Quang Ninh province in general, making Bang Ca an attractive tourist destination in Ha Long City.
