A FESTIVE CELEBRATION FOR THE QUEEN
The Queen Mother Temple Festival takes place in Diem village, Bac Ninh province, from the 5th to the 7th of the 2nd lunar month to honor the Queen Mother, the founder of Quan Ho folk singing. The festival is unique with its ritual procession of water from the Jade Well, devotional singing, and call-and-response Quan Ho singing sessions around Diem village. The festival aims to commemorate the Queen Mother's contributions (a princess, daughter of King Hung according to legend) and to pray for her protection for the villagers; it also serves as a space for performing Quan Ho folk songs and preserving this cultural heritage.
